Ok I know this is crazy but I have always wanted to travel around the country so what better way to do it??? My idea consists of taking approx. 6 months and traveling the country playing poker at various casinos. This is a work in progress and I am not even thinking of doing this till maybe next year to give me time to prepare not only my BR but my game and everything else. My thoughts: First off I would want to start with a BR of atleast $10k. I have no outstanding debt other than my car (which will be paid off in less than a year) so that is of no worry. I would need money for room & board of which I would hope the casino's would be helpfull, gas & car maintainance, and playing poker. I would like to stay a week at a time at places and more in some cases (i.e. vegas or LA where there are many poker rooms). I would like to start a website to chronicle the events as well as give a review of each city, casino, & poker room. I would like to get a few casionos on board by perhaps fronting some rooms in return for some write ups on their places (if I could show them enough people would be reading everything and a lot of people would be exposed). Problems I forsee: 1. getting BR (I currently have half that so I don't see a problem in that unless something big comes up. I am a limit player and would look to play limits no higher than $5/$10 but would stick to the $3/$6 & $4/$8 games 99.9% of the time.2. logistics of it all - this will take a lot of planning hence while I am looking into it now. 3. Casinos/Poker rooms not wanting any part of this - this would just mean I would either A) pay my own way or B) get more help from friends I have across the country. So items needed: 1. good website name for such a trip - any suggestions? 2. Help from Casinos/Poker Rooms - at the very least maybe they would even cut me a deal from their poker rate? 3. A plan of cities to go to. At present I am thinking of the following: start by heading south to New Mexico and hitting up Santa Fe and Albuquerque - next onto Arizona with Tucson and phoenix. Then onto Vegas for awhile. Then onto San Diego and up the coast to LA. Going further north in Cali (not sure what poker rooms are up that way) and on into Wash/Oregon. After that maybe even hitting up British Columbia - assuming there are rooms there too. From here I don't really know. Do I hit up Deadwood and keep on moving to Minnesota? Anyway you get the picture - other places I would like to go are Louisianna, Mississippi, KC, St. Louis, Chicago (poker outside the city?), Michigan/Inidana??, perhaps make another trip north of the boarder to Canada, then onto Foxwoods and upstate NY. Am I missing any anywhere? I am sure i am but you can see the nightmare of planning this would be. oh and AC of course. And being the big sports fan I am I would have to incorporate many "field trips" to baseball, basketball, and football games Anyway - Harrahs would be agreat friends since they have rooms all over the country. Couple ?'s 1. do you think this is possible? 2. do you think i am crazy? - ahh don't answer 3. suggestions/comments? I would like to continue online whoring a little while I do this. Obviously not to the level I do it now but I still think there could be some value in it. So I pose this question - is there software out there that would allow you to hook your laptop up to a cell phone for internet? As you can see there are a lot of issues to be resolved. Maybe this will happen maybe not but I am atleast going to look into the possibility of it. Sorry for the long ranting post. Any constructive analysis or suggestions are welcome.

You're right.... it is a crazy idea.
Suddenly I turned around
And she was standin' there
With silver bracelets on her wrists
And flowers in her hair.
She walked up to me so gracefully
And took my crown of thorns.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

sounds really cool. I guess for the website use our name('s)pokertour.com As far as the midwest goes I know that there are Harrah's in KC and St Louis. There are two casino's just outside of chicago in indiana, there's hollywood park in Aurora and there are Indian Casinos all across Wisc. Outside of Minneaplois there is Canterbury park. In southern Indiana (near Louisville) there's ceasers and a couple of others. You should hit up the mississippi casino and the Harrahs in N.O. I know that tampa has a casino too. Good luck

Thanks for the info on the casino's I will look into those. I am definately hitting up Tunica. That is where I went to my first casino but didn't play poker at the time.

Casinos here and there have poker room rates, but you're still talking about $350-500 a week.

You'd need a way to generate readership. Do you know how many poker-related blogs there are right now? Too many. Not to be insulting, but I wouldn't miss 99% of them if they disappeared.

You cannot beat these games for enough to fund your journeys. $5/10 is almost exactly the same as the other two games. Bad players galore.

I am a pessimist, but I don't think endorsements will be easy to find for this.

I've heard the horticulture here is excellent.

3. suggestions/comments?
No.Honestly, I think your odds of getting funding for this in the form of some sort of endorsement are miniscule. I've stated my pessimism already, tho.Best of luck. If you are a serious winning player, you may want to prove that to a few people and sell fractions of your action to friends for use at the table. If you can beat 5/10 online, you can most likely beat 10/20 (and, in some places, 15/30) live, and this step up will go a GREAT DEAL in funding your trip. You might want to brainstorm on your idea some more. Ilike the idea, but I think it would be very costly. If you like to travel, see National Parks, Niagara Falls, NYC, or some of that stuff. The way I see it, poker rooms are poker rooms, except probably in LA and Vegas and Europe maybe. Don't get me wrong, if I was filthy rich, I'd fly to every poker room and have a blast. But I think the cash used for traveling and hotel expenses would eat into a BR that could be better used at a 5-10, 10-20, 20-40, NL, or tournament fees.
