$10 stars mtt pair & draw facing raise

12th Hand of the tournament, no reads on villain. I play a sort of super-aggressive style. I go for first since that is where the money is at. I have no problem busting out early if it was for a chance to build a big stack. Mythinking on this play was that he probably just had a bare ace. This would make it a coin flip. By adding in the folding equity, that should make this a profitable play. He should give me credit for a big hand here, and certainly fold if he only has a pair. I don't really have any experience on MTTs this low. I play strictly SNGs except for the occasional day of MTTs on a weekend. I haven't played any lower than $20 but I have had success with them.What I wasn't thinking at the time was that the $10 MTTs are probably filled with donks who couldn't fold top pair with a good kicker if their life depended on it. Does anyone like this push? Im not sure you have any fold equity against an A at any level, and if he doesnt have an A you dont want fold equity because youre a favorite. I would just call.Also I disagree strongly with an SnG super aggressive strategy, though it wasnt clear whether you just meant you play that it in MTTs or not.With a 50/30/20 payout first place is not your primary goal if you want to maximize ROI, ITM is. Then rely on your short stack and HU sklls to mazimize ROI once you get there.

I only play super-aggressive in the MTTs. I think it is a huge benefit to play this way in MTTs. I am usually out or I am one of the chip leaders. Since the top places is where the money is at, this is a very profitable way to play. I just laugh at people who are afraid to bust on the bubble when the only make like $2 profit by cashing. I was had great success playing this way in my short period of MTT play. In SNGs I am more tight-aggressive, which I think is optimal for SNGs.

In MTTs I'm still trying to improve at small ball. That seems to me to be far more effective than a strategy of seeking out coin flips, which is what some mean by "super aggressive".

I don't necessarily seek out coin flips, although I'm fine with them if I have fold equity. I play a lot more suited connectors (raise them from any position) & big suited cards and raise with them. I then end of busting people who are married to their big pair. I'll also raise from late position with any 2 cards if the table is right (which is usually has been). I play a lot like Lindgren in MTTs, if that helps.

If youre raises are min-raises and 2x raises thats pretty much small ball, yeah. If youre making standard raises with them or if your M isnt very high you dont have the implied odds to play them OOP. The biggest hurdle is really becoming skilled at post flop play. You cant multi-table and you cant watch the latest episode of Lost while youre trying to small ball, at least not at my stage of experimenting with it.
