ok guys an interesting pot occured in my last hand of this session...

Tell me what you would have done here....

Nl texas holdem: 0.25-0.5

Have A icon_suit_heart.gif K icon_suit_heart.gif I raise 2.50$ only one guy calls and he is in better position than me...

flop: Q icon_suit_heart.gif 8 icon_suit_heart.gif 3 icon_suit_spade.gif

I bet the pot (approx 6$) and the guy reraised all in!!!

What you have to know:
- I have approx 70$ at this time and he has 80$ so he has me covered and we are playing for more than one buy-in each...

- I have a note on him that he is betting really hard is draws and his top pairs

I won't say what happened... just give me your opinion about that and i'll give the hand after that...

tx guys

so the guy could either have worse hearts, and you're a pretty decent-sized favorite over, or he could have you crushed and drawing to a FD.

i fold. your odds aren't good enough to call if you're up against a set/KQ/AQ.

My answer changes on what positions you have relative to the button.

If you raise UTG in a ten player game, then a caller at UTG+1 has to give you a lot of credit, plus he has to consider that he might face a re-raise from rest of the field. In that case, I'd figure him for a set and fold to this overbet.

If, on the other hand, you raised limpers from the cut-off seat and he called from the button, 9 icon_suit_heart.gif T icon_suit_heart.gif , J:heart: T:heart:, JQ, or 3:heart:4:heart: is more likely. Then I might call.

This big of an overbet, you're usually looking at two pair or a set although a big draw is possible. Against a standard player, you don't have the right odds to call, but I would call a LAG here.

Anyway, my guess is that you were up against something like J icon_suit_heart.gif T icon_suit_heart.gif and he hit the 9 icon_suit_heart.gif to make a straight flush. Am I right?

I call this because I don't think he is going to put you on a flush draw after you raise UTG. No strong player will initially be worried about a flush draw in this spot, that is way down the list of your likely hands from his point of view. Flush draws are much more hidden in a heads up raised pot and that is why I think this is a good gamble.

And if he tends to overplay top pair, then your Aces and Kings are live unless he has KQ or AQ.

On another note, it seems to me that a lot of you are too scared to gamble. If you have the big hand, when you might be facing a big draw then lots of you seem to play passively. If you have a really big draw(like this one) then you fold to a LAG when YOU were the raiser. That is just weak poker folks. I'm not saying you should pull the trigger every time in these spots, but you will have to make a big decision for lots of money sometime in No Limit Hold'em. If you can't handle the stress, play limit.

ok, everything makes sense here... I tougth about pushing all in in a check raise... but decided to bet pot and he pushed so...

I folded here... I tougth I was maybe vs AQ,KQ or maybe a set and was not a big favorite here and was gambling for 1.5 buy in....

he had 4-5 suited lol... would have been a big favorite here....

well, guess my notes were not up to date on this player....

at least he showed me....

I fold because your top pair outs are not clean, assuming he doesn't have a set the only outs that are clean are the flush, there are only 9 cards in the deck that make you the flush, and you don't have the right odds.

Well i think that a fold i nessary here. Your not getting the right odds to call here and i think that a fold i the right play. IN the long run youll make more money like this.
Save Me a chair and i'll be there.
Always up for a game.
