mtt, just raised twice on new table...

First post.I didn't know what to do in this spot so was looking for some help.mtt/nlhe the blinds were at 400/800 and I had just been moved to a new table.My stack was at 16000ish and had more chips than 1/2 the players at the table but two players at the table had over twice what I had.(lowest at table was 6700) My first two hands were ace/queen suited and from early position won the blinds with 2.5 to 3x bb bets uncontested. My next hand utg is 7s7c and I wasn't sure what to do with them. Having raised the previous 2hands I figured the chances of someone re-raising was higher,if I make the same 3x bb raise, and wasn't prepared to risk all my chips on 77 at this time. So not really sure if this is a call, fold, or raise situation. Having no reads on the table other than the 2 hands previous.My first post so if the answer is painfully obvious take it easy on me thanks.I ended up folding, but not til my timer was almost up. haha

From UTG when the stacks are not that deep relative to the blinds; folding a mid PP like sevens is perfectly acceptable. Also as you pointed out, you had taken the blinds with your first two hands at the table. The rest of the table is itching for the chance to test you with a reraise.With a small/mid PP, you're really looking for a chance to hit a set; but for you to have the right implied odds, you and your opponents should have at least 24 BB's in your respective stacks. You and about 1/2 the table are close to that so limping from UTG would be a valid choice in my mind as well. If you get raised, then just fold.

Just raise it. I've found that if I raise twice in a row the second raise generally gets more respect than the first and I often use this to steal, dunno about 3 in a row though.

You might have wound up at your dream table and I wouldnt shy away from raising altogether. Since the other hands didnt showdown you can vary the size of your raise here without giving anything away, so I would try and small ball it with a min raise.This could easily be read as strength, thinking youve noticed standard raises are getting folded, and you want calls.If youre normally a tight player there is also value to getting involved 3 pots in a row to present a loose image that may stick in their minds and pay off later.
