What, exactly, were the qualities, now gone, exhibited during the "best days?"

The best days were when General was cool.

I may not have been here for the "good ol' days" of FCP, but as with all aspects of life, things change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse, but most cases it depends on how you look at it.

For example, even though General is a wasteland these days, I feel as if Off Topic has grown because of it. There are plenty of good threads and good discussions but what I feel is most enjoyable about OT is that discussions don't need to be earth shattering and imperative. They can just be the community hanging out and chatting it up. I didn't quite get that at first, but now that I do, I've grown to love it here.

I think the other benefit of the site growing is that there are more contributions to the strat sections. Sure, people post some terribly played hands, but the fact of the matter is, the more information you are presented with, the more you can take from it, even if it is picking apart some rookie's misplayed aces.

Overall I have to say I don't think the site is going downhill. Then again, I haven't been active here for that long, so I can see why there would be differing opinions. The little Army/OTC feud was pretty stupid, but it seems to have calmed down, and OT has gone back to being more relaxed.

Main reason why general is worse than Off Topic:

General=Bunch of newbie/nut, follow DN around wherever he goes and congradulate him for fifty days straight for a tournament win.

OT=Bunch of Cool Veteran/Upper Groupies chillin' and starting great threads. Not to mention we have Beans and Wang.

Longshanks wasn't here yet. Him joining was the point at which the "best days" went away and the "sh*tty days" began.

This forum used to rock.

I was just browsing the old pages of Off-Topic and realized how many cool posters don't post here anymore.

Yea, like my 99 Bottles of Beer thread! Now THAT is some quality discussion! J/K I can't believe that thread is still going... at least I got absolutely obliterated in the process. And so did you I believe...
