Months ago the wife and I decided we were going to go the WSOP/WPT events in Tunica so she could play in one or both of the 300+40 womens events. Our bank roll doesn't really support me playing in a 500 event but we figured she has a better chance at cashing in with a bunch of women than I do in a full fledged tourny. So the night before we leave for the weekend we are playing in a home game and mention to everyone our intentions, well a female friend of ours pipes up and says how bad she wants to go and we invite here to come with us..turns out she has a sugar daddy who's willing to give her a grand to come with us and do what she wants with it....she ends up paying us a 100 for gas and room ($49 a nite at the Grand is what we were promised/ 3 nites)

we get there at 9pm friday nite and freshen up and head to the grand casino.....find out there are only 2/5 NL tables and a host of limit crap. Wife sits down at one, and Jenny sits down at a 3-6 limit table.....

5 min later we hear about a ladies event satelite and the wife (katie) pulls out of the 2/5 and buys in....goes out 8th....ok that sucks and we decide to spend no more than 100 a piece downstairs at the table games....well 3 hours later we are down 300 and i finally call it quits and we leave...

next day....Saturday

wife and jenny go over to the goldstrike to play 1/2 around 11am, i join them at 12:30pm.....wife is up about 100....

i spend a good portion of the afternoon watching the wpt main event, and getting autographs....while the girls are playing.....in finally sit down and play 1/2 at jenny's table....i watch here lose a big hand rebuy and lose another big hand....i eventually cash out down about a 100....wife is up 170......over all down 230 from the nite before.....we head back to the grand....decide not to play there and go back to GS.

wife and I play and she's up another 100 or so, I'm up 50 on that session.....she had left before me and when I cashed out i headed to the lobby to wait for my shuttle, while waiting i spot clwnie gowan and have a cool conversation with her.....20 min later I spot a dude i met here in pcola months ago and cant think of his name but as he and his friends walk thru the lobby i follow and as i tap him on the shoulder and say his name, he turns and looks at me, turns around again and shakes Men the Masters' hand and I proceed to be beside my self as I watch this acquaince and Men have a conversation. Finally Men walks away and Will turns to me and kinda knows me but I had to put it into context when he finally remembered where he knew me.....we exchange numbers and go about our business........next day (wsop womens event at the Grand) wife and jenny go sign up and i finally join them about an hour into the event....wife is up a little, jenny is out......5 hours later wife is out in 67th out of 297.....she is not dissapointed...its her first event....

now here's where the real fun starts...

we eventually end up at the gold strike again playing 1/2...wife isnt having much fun at her table and i get her to move to mine....bout 20 min later i take a big pot for 250 bucks....3 hands later i take the same girl out for another 250 and she's done (turns out she was the 4th place ladies finalist the nite before for $5K) within this time both the wife and I have been privy to a bad beat jackpot for 250 each....at that time she leaves the table down $50 or so....few hands later I take down a folded 300 pot with trips again...by now its about 1:30 am....
by 2:30 our table breaks and we move to another....i catch a few small hands an am showing $1200 in front of me (started with 200) and there is some crazy action at the high roller tables (farha, bellasnde and others) problem is spectators are getting in the way and OUR table calls for the floor to get security!!!! imagine that, a 1/2 table calling security on 2 high roller tables....needless to say we won that battle....anyway...bout 3 am some random dude is talking loudly about some incident downstairs with the lobby and a car....5 min later the wife comes up and expands on it, yeah the guy who drove his car into the lobby.....my wife is the closest table game to it........wierd!!!!!! ..........

eventally after realizing i am too drunk to continue playing poker after being up 900 on the nite....i cash out and go downstairs....wife throws me a 100 to play craps at the table she is playing at, and by the end of the session (10am) we are both up 700 each......cool feeling when dudes are thowing you $25 chips at the end of each roll....

needless to say we had an absolute blast this weekend....showed up with 1170 and walked away with 3200 including her 300 buy in....granted most of it was craps....but the bank roll almost tripled via 1/2 so who's complaining.....

sorry such a long post, but DAMN we had a good time!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Tunica...

We have a house in Arkansas we stay at a couple months out of the year, and even though we live in Vegas, we drive over to Tunica every chance we get. The staff at the casinos there actually treat players like humans..

I dont care for the Gold Strike much. We usually hang out at Hollywood or Fitzgeralds the most. The wife likes the small outlet mall across from the Grand's entrance, the only shop there for guys is the Case XXX place.

I'll be there the weekend of Feb 5 for my birthday. The bars on Beal street know me well...

we never saw any but the gold strike or grand casinos...but we are hands down in favor of the GS....way better poker room.....and our grand hotel room had three issues in the first 30 min that we had to call room service for...needless to say next time we are there we will be staying at the GS....not to mention they are probably going to comp us since we took 1400 of thier money in 2 hours.....

The other casinos (Sams Town, Harrahs,Hollywood, Fitzgeralds, and Ballys) are a couple miles south on 61...

The Isle of Capi is in Lula MS (down 61 about 15 miles)

Easy to get comps in all of them...

I accidently flooded the bathroom at Sams Town one night (dont ask) and they waived all room charges for the trip... (I now carry a pipe wrench to aid in the comps)

GN-- Sounds like a fun trip. Tunica's not a bad time.

Beans-- I'm really thinking me and you should meet up some time. I'll be heading to Tunica for a week over the summer and I think we should hit the bars. I'll let ya know when for sure, or maybe let me know you plan on being there. It'd be a great time though.
I'm also fed up with the common cold but I just hate to say goodbye.

I was there last year for a 3 or 4 days. I didn't really get out and see the town much, HEH!, but I did manage to get over to Beal Street for a night.

Good times.

I won't be there in February--I've got classes--but, this summer for sure. I'll keep ya updated.
