He'd be better of at shortstop than at any type of management position.

I'm not sure if I disagree or agree (he was pretty good), but I'd like to see you "prove" it.

lol
allright ill find the numbers, but it might take a while...
ill start out with the basics:
made the playoffs 100% of the time 3/3. Pried Curt Schilling from AZ. Won 2004 WS. Traded away Boston legend Nomar Garciaparra(worked out beautifully). Transformed the pathetic 2002 Sox into the 2003 AL runnerup Sox....more later

rebuilt Sox farm system. I believe that the top prospect for the sox in 2002 was Dernell Stenson. I wont bash him because he is no longer alive, but now they have top pitching prospects Jonathon Papelbon, and Jon Lester. They also have the likes of Dustin Pedroia, and they had Hanley Ramirez when Theo left.

He didn't do much more than any other GM would have done in his place. I guess he can hang his hat on getting David Ortiz for nothing. But other than that he hasn't done anything that great.

signed bargain basement players that turned into stars, such as Todd Walker (5 HRs in the 2003 post season) Mark Bellhorn (had 2 of the biggest HRs in Red Sox history) Bill Mueller (2003 AL Batting Champ) Kevin Millar (great for team chemistry) David Ortiz(Best hitter in baseball period.)
in the 2003-2004 offseason he signed Keith Foulke who in 2004, was one of the best closers in the game, to help the bullpen which was pathetic.
2003 team scored 5.93 runs per game, 2004 team scored 5.86, 2005 team scored 5.62.
in 2004 the team had a 4.18 ERA, which is pretty good.
2003 team won 95 games, 2004 team won 98 games, 2005 team won 95.

They werent as good as their record would show. they missed the playoffs, dispite being in the wildcard lead for much of the year if i remember correctly. had noooo bullpen, closer was ugy urbina, who blew a ton of big games. pathetic

Ok I dont have time to pick throught he whole post, but considering that Epstein is into hard core baseball stats analysis, you might want to word things differently.
Todd Walker hardly turned into a star. In the regular season he hit about what you would expect (actually he had a low OPS compared to his career). And 5 HRs in the post season just means he got hot (as in variance). This star only played in Boston 1 year.
So has Epstein done a good job? Sure he has, but let's not forget that he had one of the largest payrolls in the majors. I think thats significant. There are other GMs doing very well with a lot less resources.

What number is that?? That is their OPENING DAY PAYROLL for 2004. It almost assuredly went up over the course of the year. Don't tell me he is some sort of "genius" for winning the World Series ONE YEAR with that payroll. Also...you say he's been to the playoffs 3/3 years?? Okay. GM for the Yanks and Braves have been to HOW MANY PLAYOFFS IN A ROW NOW!??!?! A lot more than three. Also..yeah...he got Curt Schilling. Okay. One good trade. He is pretty good...but put him in KC with a 35 million dollar payroll and see what happens. Can't say he is "the best" after three years of work...don't be such a homer.
