When i go to vegas i always stay at Sams Town, out on Boulder Hwy...Have been since i was a kid, and they take care of us (free rooms, etc) so i am loyal. They run a 40$ buy in NL tournament with unlimited rebuys for the first hour Thurs Fri Sat nights... i played in it last time i was there, and actually ended up winning 1st place in the thing for about 3k.My question is, this is a super loose, hyper aggresive tourny, where you literally have people with stacks of cash just going all in and rebuying every hand...how do you combat this? do you loosen up or tighten up? I won last time out of blind luck i think. My game was OK, but no where near where it is now, or where it should have been. I got my AA busted by J3 off suit all in preflop, was down to 1 500 chip, threw it in the next pot and got quads, quadrupling up, and never looked back...Thing is, i didn't have a strategy at all, i kinda took what i knew from books, and gave it a go. Now i have a deeper level of understanding about poker, odds, etc...id like to have a gameplan to succeed...Id like to see what you guys think...
strategy for hyper aggresive style tournament

I tighten up and wait for the donkeys giving away their chips to uh...give me their chips. But this is a situation in which the Gap between hands you can open with and hands you can call with preflop narrows, because people are involved in pots with below average holdings.Try to take cheap flops with hands that have good implied odds (all pairs, all suited aces, etc.) and press your premium hands to the hilt.

Depends how you feel about rebuying, right? You can take shots to double up and then play tight once you do, or just play tight and know if you catch a monster you can push and have one, maybe multiple callers!

How many times would you (assuming you are a above average tourny player) expect to rebuy, or be prepared to rebuy for...when would you cut it off and cut your losses?

If you do not have the funds to rebuy at least 3-4 times you are going to have a hard time winning this kind of tournament. You must be able to double up at least once during the rebuy period or else you will be severly short stacked. This means you push hard with flush draws, open ended straight draws. You call with hands with huge implied odds, like suited connectors and small pocket pairs. You will go broke, but you just rebuy until one of those plays works out. You can get lucky like you did last time and hit the first big pot you play and not need to ever rebuy, but you should expect to lose at least once or twice when you may even have the best of it. The other key is to be able to switch gears quickly when you have a big stack and/or the rebuy period ends. Some people will continue to play like a donkey, don't be one of them.
