cold calling kqo from lp

Recommended Posts

hope you dont mind another post about KQono matter what kind of player im against, i have a problem calling raises with KQo in any position. so i dont whether EP raises and 3 ppl calls cold, ill foldwhether EP raises and no one calls ill foldpretty much ill fold everytime there is a raiseeven from the blinds facing a raise from MP from a medium tight aggressive player i would fold, as i find myself to be outplayed after the flop out of positionof course agasint a loose raiser, i may occasionally cold call or raise but against normal player, say 25/9/1 or w/e i would give it up.should i play KQo more aggressively? or make cold calls?i guess it would depend solely on the opponent im against?

That's good.

Call one in the BB. If you hit the flop, try check raising. Decide what you do next from original raiser's reaction.

Against a maniac, always (not occasionally) raise it if you can isolate. Never cold call.

This is good. Why would you want to pay to be dominated? In poker, I mean.

There're going to be enough times where you arent dominated to warrant calling 1 small bet (from the big blind). It's also much better than something like A10off, on account of the straight value. KQ often makes straights with huge implied odds, on account of the fact that the straights that you're going to make will connect hard with other players TP hands. With several cold calls in front from weak players, it's not really all that bad to be cold calling on the button or from the CO. Unless the PFR is particularly tight with early position raises, that is. I usually fold it without explicit information to suggest that his raising range is particularly wide, but in the right hands (not mine probably), it can be played profitably there.

Yes, in some conditions it can be profitable. If the preflop raiser has a high PFR%, and there are no or maybe 1 cold-callers between us, I'd 3-bet with it. However, against reasonable opponents, folding KQo to a raise is a good way to avoid losing a bunch of bets when you are behind the whole way.

do you not have confidence in your post flop skills?do you lose a lot from the BB?

Yes and yes. I hate playing from the BB, and I think I suck at blind defense, but I would still play KQ to a single raise most of the time. I probably have many postflop leaks, but chasing with KQ after a K or a Q flops against multiple-street aggression isn't one of them. :club:
