Recommended Posts

30/60 and its gotten down to 4 players. A tight player(the CO) that has no clue how to play shorthanded and open limps from CO and is jut not aggressive enough...and two 2+2ers. We havnt talked much poker so all I know about them is one is getting married.I get A :D ,7 :) in the SB.Co raises, I call in the SB, BB calls.flop is 3 :club: ,3 :D ,3 :D I check, BB checks, CO checksTurn is the 6 :) whats my plan?

i've written this twice already, so hopefully i stick with my choice this time. I like check/raising the CO the best. A poor CO might check a lot of ace high's and hands that should be bet on the flop. If it checks through again, he would hopefully bet...with king high, ace high, or a flush draw now.check raisiing him could make him fold all of his hands, if not right away on a blank river. I think I bet any non diamond or JQKBut by checking...you can almost give the hand to the BB...how bad of a play is it to check call against the BB? i would think he bets out here WAY more than he has a hand to go with it.I would c/r a CO bet, most likely bet the river. C/C a Big Blind bet, and C/C the river too.

I'm fuzzy why you don't make this three preflop.
me too. i suppose if you think CO is reeeeaally passive it makes sense...

It's so cute when you are confused over a hand!OK, in all seriousness. Let's try to find a bet in here. I like a C/R on the CO the most probably, but I think I might like a B/C just as much. And how do we follow to the river with a B/C call line? Also you could C/R the guy getting married, because you know hes a pussy too.

A tight player(the CO) that has no clue how to play shorthanded and open limps from CO and is jut not aggressive enoughYeah, doesn't help me. Why do I let the better player into the hand for one bet against the guy I can outplay again?good luck.

As a general rule shorthanded, when faced with an open raise and no other callers in the hand, I either 3bet or fold the SB. And based on your read of the CO, this hand would be a borderline option for me to 3bet isolate him with. Plus with the 3bet preflop, this hand would then be much easier to play, as the pot would likely be heads up, you'd have regained control of the pot from the CO and you could lead the flop with a bet, and very well pick up the pot by the turn on this type of board verses a tight/passive player.Having said that, with the actual way you played the hand, I would check/call the flop, then bet/fold the turn (your Ace high may be the best hand here, plus you have outs even if you get called).

can someone elaborate on CRing the turn?1 - how do we know CO will bet?2 - what makes you think he won't call down our obvious bluff with ace-high/any pair?i like betting out, but i consider a bet/fold given our read. it would depend on how strong the "CO will open-limp" read is - it would have to be quite strong that he will only raise big hands for me to bet/fold.and i think you should 3-bet preflop. because of what smash said. he's smart.
