Mustangdood 0
OK a little about me since I'm new to the board, First off I started playing back at the end of Nov, so I have been playing online and the B&M close by as well for about 3 months, So I'm still a fish, but I'm learning. I have read a few Skalansky books, Brunsons Book, and one of Cloutiers books, plus Caros book of tells. I'm about to borrow Dan Harringtons book from a friend. So I have alot of the knowledge but working on the exp.Ok now the play I'm curious about I was mid position 2 limpers before me (Blinds 300/600) I had pp 4's so I limped as well hoping for trips. The big blind was a guy that was new at the table but goes all in, I figure him for a steal, both limpers fold and I look at my chips and start thinking about calling, but with 4's hhhmmm?? I had about 2300 in chips after my limp in, his all in was roughly around 2000 chips, anyways I folded as well, how many of you would have gambled with the 4's in this situation?? I figured at least a couple of overcards, but I think I had the best hand at the moment?? anyways, I finished 8th over all out of 66.this is the 2nd time I have finished 8th, although last time it was out of 111th. I can't seem to break into the money. I finished 11th once, I was bubble boy. I seem to be getting there but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, maybe my unwillingness to gamble when I should?? I don't know, any pointers to get me a little further??
JaysonWeber 0
Well first off, welcome to the forum. You said you have roughly 2300 chips left after your limp, with blinds at 300/600. That means you had 2900 chips (maybe a little more if there is an ante). That is severly shortstacked as you can't cover 5x BB, with this type of stack, dont limp. If you're going for first place in this tournament go all-in on the 4's unless you really think someone behind you is going to move in. Your best shot against this guy is a coinflip, even if he is trying to seat with 10-5, he's a 48% favorite to win.My advice, either you put him to the test by pushing all-in or wait until the odds are in your favor a bit more.
