Hey Y'all I've got a few friends in the Midwest Poker Challenge coming up this weekend in Michigan, theres a re-buy tournament the day before the 20k that I'm looking to play in. For the record, I NEVER play re-buys, I hate them... Just wondering if anyone with experience can help me out a bit....

The purpose, the site, the material determine the shape. Nothing can be reasonable or beautiful unless its made by one central idea, and the idea sets every detail. A building is alive, like a man." - The Fountainhead.

Not experience, I'm working on them myself, found out the hard way about NOT rebuying with a decent stack. For the record, I hated them too, but there are a couple I feel I'm competitive in that pay nicely. Some pointers I've come across:From PP website: If re-buys are only allowed if you're busted, I recommend not re-buying unless you feel you have a definite edge. Otherwise: Re-buy before the game, giving you a double stack or as soon as possible. This gives you significant leverage over those players who do not re-buyADD-ON: There are times when it is not cost effective to add-on, and they all involve monstrous chip leads or your stack is so small you don't have a chance. Best rule is always add-on. When you enter the tournament just plan for one re-buy and add-on and consider it part of the entry feeThis is what I came up with overall for me: I plan on spending it all. How I do it depends on the structure. And keeping a close eye on what others are doing. Sometimes, if you can rebuy before you go bust, I add it right away, letting me take full advantage of opportunities that come up (full risk too). Other times, depending on the tourney, I use it like "insurance" and keep it back in case I make a mistake. Or, to take gambles I might not ordinarily take trying to build a good lead going into the second round. Parting thought: Going into the second round, depending how close I am to the original starting amount, I may consider losing a few to take advantage of the rebuygl
