13thGradePlayer 0
Definately a good start. After you master the concepts in SSHE (which will take some practice, but be lucrative), it couldn't hurt to pick up sklansky's advanced book. The information will apply to middle and high level competition more than low level though. Also, if you play live games Caro's book of tells can be very helpful, but they also take a lot of live game practice to really notice. And lastly, if you get into the tournament circle, I recommend (yet again) sklansky's advanced tournament poker book. I also enjoyed TJ Cloutier's NL tourny book, although it has been critizced by some for being too tight (i disagree, i think its perfect). Many also have recommended Dan Harringtons book, but i just purchased it and haven't delved into it quite yet. Hope I've been of some help.

Leedspokerguru 0
TOP is quite a heavy book to read. Not the easiest and reququires some time and effort. Alot to take in. By all means read it and take what you can before re reading again in the future. But if I could do things differently I would have waited the longer before reading TOP, my second book I think. I think the info in Lee Jones and SSHE will do great in making the money roll in. Then once your winning read TOP, Advanced holdem by Sklansky and SS by Brunson. You'll get so much more out of the books IMHO. Looking back I wish thats what I would have done.
JaysonWeber 0
Leedspokerguru is 100% right on about TOP, its a very heavy book, to be honest I've probobly read a few sections 5 or 6 times, TOP is a book that you pick up when you're in a rut to remind you how to play correctly. You said you were playing .5/1.00 Blinds, and that means that you should certainly buy Small Stakes Hold 'Em, the BEST book for micro-limit play, there is no question, they even brought in someone who grinded it out from 1/2 up to I believe 6/12 and then 10/20. SSHE focuses on the edges you can push in these games and how to play them correctly. The internet has a lot of good information but most of the time you're multi-tasking and not taking in everything you read while on here.
wrto4556 0
After those two get SS2!Going back and reading doyles NL section has set me off.Plus the Omaha section and limit hold'em section are pretty good. The latter being better.

Then again, I'm pretty good at logic, understanding, and mathematics. Also, TOP isn't that hard to read; I think that's getting blown out of proportion. Yeah, it can be college-text-like in places, but that's probably Sklansky's LEAST mathematical work (another reason to read his game-specific books, unless you're a big stat nerd and will do it yourself, and do it properly).
