Hi folks -- first time poster here, so I hope I'm not covering old ground.I'm a big poker fan, but the idea of actually sitting at a poker table is very daunting. (I played 7-card stud with my big brother many years ago; we stopped playing when I started winning :D .) I'd love to try some online poker, but it seems like all the sites are for Windows users only, and I'm a Mac girl. :-) (For any other Mac geeks out there, I'm running a G3/366 iBook with 320MB RAM; too slow to run Virtual PC.) I'm planning on upgrading to a new computer or two later this year; a new Mac with a more powerful processor so I can run Virtual PC, and possibly a new laptop (my 10GB drive is almost crammed with games, MP3s, and some actual work). Having 2 computers would definitely help in the domestic tranquility department as well. :lol:In the meantime, can anyone recommend any Mac-friendly poker rooms? Thanks much, and hope to see you at the tables!

Yep. That's where my Mac and I can be found a lot. I hate it though. I play there often because I don't like to use the laptop, but I notice the community cards make winners out of longshots on a VERY consistent basis. And I'm not just talking about personal bad beats, but also hands were I caught two ridiculous cards in a row or have watched someone else get sucked out with 3 or less outs. I know it's poker and that happens. But compared with other sites (pokerstars, full tilt) that I've perused, it's just very odd. I'm not flaming on the site or critiquing all online poker as dubious. It's just an observation. But I can't complain too much since I've done very well at the multi-tables tourneys there. It's just I'm not always proud of HOW I make the final table. :? Oh and some friendly Mac advice. If you are getting a G5, make sure you have Virtual PC 7. VPC6 won't run on the G5 processor. Happy Mac-ing.

I generally have liked playing at pokerroom.com with my Apple iBook G3, 733 mhz. I wish they had more limit tourneys but they only have a couple on the weekends. I have noticed that if I play for a long time (more than an hour) the site will crash, which stinks if you're in the later rounds of a tourney. My online poker problem is that I have money at ultimatebet that I have not put in play because my mac went dead right after I made a deposit. (Basically, the iBook I bought had a bad motherboard, Apple fixed it for free and upgraded to a then new version of OS X, which my Virtual PC would not work on.) Ugh. Anyway, I'm in the process of buying a cheap PC to play on ultimatebet.FYI, I have a friend who just bought an iMac and Virtual PC seems to work fine, though he did have to max out the memory.checknraisepoker.com is also a java-based site too. Haven't played there though.Hope some of this helps.

Hey i believe you can also play at Pacific Poker.com they have a Java interface you can use if you don't want to download the software. I play on my girlfriends ibook on their site. you have to go to the download section and then select quick play. it's kind of weird that they don't really advertise it but it works. there site is better than poker room's in my opinion. they have some pretty sick mtt guarenteed money tourney's there. that's it.happy hunting.-t

I didnt know Pacific Poker was Mac friendly ..yea pokerroom sux baaad, the past week it has crashed every night and it logs everyone off the table it especially sux when you worked your way up to chiplead in a cash game and then u have to start again with the max buy in..,anyway the $50/1 NL cash games are the softest ive ever played..I started playing the limit games 3 weeks ago w/ a $200 bankroll and after 2 weeks playing 4hrs a day 5 days a week i had gone up to 300 including my deposit bonus ,,this week I started to play the .50/1 nl games and i went up to $500 .. no losing sessions yet ( I know I'm going to go through swings and I'm not going to win every session) but they're verrry easy games.Anyway if i could get any feedback from anyone about the Pacific Poker games I might transfer my BR over to that site...the deposit bonus would be nice..

I like Pacific Poker mainly for there multi-table tourney's. They have a 15 dollar 6000 guarenteed everyday that usually only runs about 200 or so people. They actually have lots' of tourney's that are similar to that. as far as the competition goes in the cash games, it's not as soft as poker room but it's definitley still soft. i don't know, i just like it a lot more than poker room. it's at the very least different. regardless if you want to sign us you should let me send you an email so i can get the referral bonus. if not that's cool too. i like it the most of the java sites. actually i think check'n raise poker has java too but it's still knew and i don't think that many people play on it yet. see ya -t
