do i call or fold to this donk?

Just wanted to hear some insight on this particular hand. I was over at a coworker's house playing six handed .25-.25 nlh. The table was generally playing very loose and passive. After one limper and then a check from the small blind (villian), I raised it to $1.50 from the big blind holding A 3 . I have been raising throughout the night building the pot and outplaying my opponents post-flop. So even with this marginal hand I wasn't concerned after villian decided to call as I now have position on the biggest donk at the table. (background info on villian: he would call anything as long as he got a piece of flop, ie. low pair, draws...) Flop came: 10 3 10 villian checked to me, I bet $2.00, villian called. Turn: 8 villian again checked, I bet $7.00, villian called. River: A villian pushes all in for $23.75. What's my move now? I have villian coverd.

Looks like a fold to me. Too many hands crush you here.He could have A10 or backed into a flush.An open push from a passive donk = fold

He has a flush or a 10. Checking and calling means a weak player has a strong hand.Weak is strong.Strong is weak.You've been leading the betting all night and think you are a much better player. I think I would've played it the same way, just let you take the lead the entire time and bet it all the way down for me.

I have to agree with everyone here. There are just too many hands that have you covered in this spot. I have found that in my experience, I would much rather pick up 10 small pots than 1 huge pot. I would toss the hand and wait for a better spot. Something I have been burned on many times:call before the flopcheck callcheck callBIG BETWhen they come alive, it tends means they have completed a hand. Think about it from their point of view. You bet at the pot every chance you had, does it seem like they would think a bluff would work a good percentage of the time? I sure wouldnt risk all of my chips with a 2 3 in this spot when someone has fired repeatedly at the pot.-- Ryan

I think this has to be a fold. I suspect he has trips, but even if he doesn't and he just has an Ace, he may out kick the board which would out kick you.Even donks get a hand sometimes. My rule against calling stations is that you can discount what he/she has, but you still have to have something substantial to call him.

Thanks for all the replies. Anyways, while I was contemplating what to do I was replaying recent hands in my head. The previous hand was played almost the exact same way except it was a solid ROCK at the table who was doing the bidding and villian calling. When the river fell villian decided to make an all in bluff just to be called by the rock who had a full house. The most logical holding for the villian I thought would be that he had at least a 10 in his hand. But he usually raises a little when he thinks he has a strong hand just to sweeten the pot. I really couldn't see this donk having 10 anything. I considered him having backed into a flush, but decided if he did it would be just too ridiculous to call the flop bet hoping to catch running suits. Well, I reluctantly called thinking he might have been on a straight draw with J 9 and missed. or there might be a split if he caught the A on the river. villian turned over J 7 I couldn't believe it. villian was calling pot sized bets on the flop and turn to try and catch a backdoor Jack high flush on a paired board!I asked the villian why he had played the hand the way he did and sincerely told me that any two cards could win and that honestly he was hoping to catch running jacks to make a boat. Wow, its no wonder this is the only night I have seen him win money.

Hope you marked him as a person you want to play with often =)He'll have a fortunate night only once in a long while. You just hope his bankroll is large enough so it doesn't run out before you can get a good chunk of it =)

yep, I surely look forward to playing this guy again. Funny thing is, he always complain that the cards aren't falling his way when he is losing. but today, when i saw him at work he told me he has been reading some literature and believes he is at the expert level. Same guy that called a eventual all in flop bet after it had been reraised twice holding a wired paired of twos. needless to say, he caught a deuce on the river and boated up to win the entire pot. oh well, thanks for the replies.
