All right I’m venting here because I don’t want my chat banned AGAIN!On Pstars the other night playing .05 .10 NLHE 6Max5 HandedI’m in the SB with A :club: 10 :D MP (villain) calls; Button calls; I raise 3xBB; BB calls; villain calls; button calls.Flop comes Q :D K :D J :) .I check (hoping to c/r) and it gets checked around.Turn is a 10 :) I figure I’m splitting here but I make a bet to try and find out for sure. I bet 2/3 pot; BB folds; villain doubles my bet; Button folds; I call (I’m sure it’s a split pot now).River is a A :) I check; Villain goes all in for 3x the pot!!After I had an aneurysm I tried to explain to him that all he did was cost us both money and his reply was. “I noticed you were playing tight so I thought I could get you to fold.”AAAAAARRRGGGGHHH :!:

Well , I think you played that hand horrible. Board is very draw friendly, you were out of position and you checked hoping for a c/r??All you did by checking is letting a bare ace catch up.Gotta make them pay for draws here, also you might get called here by alot of hands J 10, Q 10, K 10 ect....No guarentee on the turn that player has an ace why the weak bet? he coulda had 2 pair, even top pair, I woulda moved all in here at least if he didnt have the ace you win pot instead of splitting. And also you would be suprised how many people might fold here. Here's a hand that I played today and couldnt believe that 2 players folded on the river.***** Hand History for Game 3221656852 *****$10 NL Texas Hold'em - Sunday, December 18, 10:03:28 EDT 2005Seat 5 is the buttonTotal number of players : 10 DW2005_YT posts small blind [$0.05].Havmanden posts big blind [$0.10].joeboipp posts big blind [$0.10].** Dealing down cards **ronny522 raises [$0.20].vladrus calls [$0.20].justcheckin2 calls [$0.20].altobelli555 calls [$0.20].joeboipp calls [$0.10].DocD79 calls [$0.20].Havmanden calls [$0.10].** Dealing Flop ** [ 3h, 9h, 3c ]Havmanden bets [$0.10].ronny522 calls [$0.10].vladrus calls [$0.10].altobelli555 raises [$0.75].DocD79 calls [$0.75].Havmanden calls [$0.65].** Dealing Turn ** [ 9d ] Right here I figgured that raiser probablly had a 3Havmanden checks.altobelli555 checks.DocD79 checks.** Dealing River ** [ 9c ]Havmanden checks.altobelli555 bets [$0.50].DocD79 folds.Havmanden folds. Both players folded to a 50. bet, Pot was over 3$ I think he bet the board here hoping at least 1 player would fold .After the hand I typed in (lol) and all he said was (lol)

I will freely admit my play was not optimal. I'm still a novice at NL (Limit is more my bread and butter). My questions are not intended as an argument for my play but more as inquiries into optimal stratagy. Why not check raise on the flop with the nuts? With three to act behind me isn't it reasonable to assume someone might take a shot at a board with so many draws possible?I made the weak bet on the turn because I was hoping to get a call or raise if someone was playing the dummy end of the strait.thanks for your advice

My NL play is not the best either , i'm also trying to learn. I guess all I was trying to say was any time there.s a flop like that and you have the nuts, people are going to pay you to try to outdraw you. Not saying pot would not of been chopped anyway but at least the guy tried

I made this exact move three-handed the other day, and I got a fold. The board read 7-7-A-7-7, and the first player acted really confused, hesitated and then folded. This was in a relatively high limit game too. (Either 3/6 or 5/10.) So to think that low limit players will never fold when the board shows the nuts is incredibly naive.

He was obviously scared you had the fifth seven in your hand for five of a kind.

6 to the flop, not much action, I'm on the button, turn's checked through, river gives us a Broadway straight, rainbow. Maybe 50 in the pot.Me and another regular are the two solid players, everyone else is kinda donkish with one guy who's decent.Chilli (Think Paul Darden), a regular, pushes all in for 690 at a 1/2 NL 100 max buy in. FOUR FOLDS TO ME ON THE BUTTON. I call. He just grins at me and flips over 94os, and says "Nuts"One of the donks says.."God, I knew he had the 9."I flip over K8 and say, "Me too."Everyone else seems kinda confused before the dealer has to explain to them what's going on.

http://fullcontactpoker.com/poker-forums/v...highlight=starsthis hand officially trumps all.seriously. i was standing behind aseem while he was playing and we were both giggling like giddy little school girls.i kept yelling minraise! and with the other guy who was also minraising, it was clearly apparent that the other two goombas were just coming along for the ride.

the rake is usually capped by the river in this situation. i didn't really read the thread to see if this was brought up.i get good rakeback, so i do this all the time :-)

You want to know the funny part?If the pot was small enough or the all in big enough (and the rake proportion sufficiently large), it would actually be in your best interest to fold.Of course, if that ever was the case, it would be ridiculous for him to make the push - because the very fact that it is less unprofitable for you to fold means that when he does get called, he is losing money... and the vast majority of the time, he will get called. If hte rake is already capped though, go nuts.
