Hello all...I'm in the middle of getting crushed tonight online by the calling stations...ugh...usually I beat them because I'm a fairly tight player by nature so I'm not complaining. I know it's part of the game. But I do have a question so here goes:For both LHE and OHL I usually play 1/2 or 2/4 -- and I know full well I can expect calling stations and to get sucked out by them sometimes. At what $$ levels do you who play there seem to find fewer calling stations and when does the bluff element actually start to become a strategy factor? I do know I need to improve some more to move up but what can be expected at say, 2/6, 5/10 and eventually 10/20 in comparison to 1/2 and 2/4?I look forward to your responses and thanks in advance!

O8 games where bluffs work are insanely tough. Be happy there are calling stations. What you can expect at 10/20 is to raise with AK, someone call you with you junk, you bet the flop, they raise, you three bet, you bet the turn, they raise again, you call, you check the river, they bet, you call and you win with ace high.Of course they play the same way with a set....I don't know why people confuse looseness with agression. You *want* loose players who passively call with anything in your game. You don't want tight agressive players who run you over heads up all day long, sometimes with nothing, sometimes with the nuts.Bad beats don't cost you money. They make you money long term.Tattoo it on your forehead backwards so that you see it every time you look in the mirror.
I've never played poker.

Hey Smash...Thanks for the insight. Like I said, I'm not complaining about the calling stations because I want the loose-passive table every time. I'm just curious as to what levels one starts to see fewer of them.Don't know about the tattoo, though....:::grin:::

There is calling stations in every level. Even the 15/30 limits. Check call, check call. its easy. I sit with my buddy who plays the 15/30 and just wish i had the bankroll to play there. Smash is right about aggression but some of the agression is unwarranted and very loose agression. My advice play no limit. when you get AA, KK just go all in. Dont play anything else lol
