I was playing the final hand head up in a 280 person $10 buy-in on Full tilt. The blinds are at 3000/6000, i have 150K in my stack to my opponeents 250k (approx numbers of course). I pick up A9 offsuit on the button after a long stretch of bad cards, i raise to 20000, my opponent calls on the big blind. Flop comes T93 rainbow. My opponent checks, I bet 30000, he fires back 100K, i think i have to have him beat (he just called preflop), he turns over JJ, turn and river are blanks and the tournament is over, he makes $300 more than I. What do you think of the action?

Um.Yeah, not sure. I dunno..this is one of those hands, where, you're ahead enough to make it okay, but behind enough where you can still fold.Read dependent. If you think he makes a bluff like this with any kind of regularity than call.If you think you can pick a better spot and/or it's likely he's got the goods while putting you in, you fold. Key part here being that it's read dependent.I doubt that was much help though.
I'm also fed up with the common cold but I just hate to say goodbye.

One of those things where you really need to know more about your opponent. Has he pulled this often? You still have 100K left if you fold and surely can find a better spot than having to guess one way or the other here. I'd probably let it go and try in another spot. Congrats on placing second though :D

stacks are prety deep so you're not really in desperation mode.Very read dependent.Do you think you can out play him or is he better than you? That is one questions you should ask yourself before comitting all your chips w 2nd pair.congrats on the 2nd though

Thanks for the advice guys.....i just felt that it was kinda weird that someone would flat call preflop with a hand like JJ, and then check it on a flop all under cards. This seems like a spot that he would want to raise after seeing such a great flop for his hand. I really could have found a better spot, i mean, it was basically a $300 freeroll and to waste it with second pair, when i felt i had an extreme advantage skill-wise over my opponent. Another thing to note, is that I felt after watching his previous play, which was risk-free/completely uncreative, I didnt think he would play a big hand like that. I'm going to guess he just played the hand wrong and it worked out great for him.

Here's a case where he figured he had the best hand and decided to deal a knockout blow. Since you were interested in doing the betting, he just waited until you felt committed.Congratulations on second-- a good accomplishement on its own!Cheers,Merby

No he actually played the hand well if he assumed he was up against an aggressive opponent. Vs someone who plays a risk free / uncreative style why would you risk your stack with 2nd pair. 10x which would make a lot of sense also has you killed.

I think a lot of hands can be disected by this forum. Heads up tournament hands are not one of them. There is so much feel when it gets down to the final two that it is very difficult to give any meaningful feedback.

Heads up, i play 100% on feel, so really its based on what you felt like he had HOWEVER. I must say that if I called a raise pre-flop, I definately might check raise on a tone cold bluff knowing you would continuation bet any two cards. its really pretty tough to say but my advice is stick to your gut. mazel tov on a good finsih

I was just in a finals also from a 30 person sit and go, the chip leaders all pulled that move many times by the way. I hope you are sure you were better, maybe he had a read on you and knew you could raise with the short end of a hand, winning the heads up is all about will to win and can do power. I came back from less then 1,000 to take the chip lead at the heads up stage , I think folding any questionable hand when raised is safe and will lead the trappers astray. The longer you can last or play short the tougher you are any disadvantage in the poker game is what you should practice.
