TSN is reporting that Olcyk is out as the Pens coach. I feel bad for the guy, hes getting screwed by the pre-season hype. The only player even begining to live up to billing is Crosby, all the rest of the off season accuisitions have been huge busts. http://www.tsn.ca/nh...146965&hubname=

Such a shame, I always loved Olcyk, but I'm not sure he had much of a chance...

I know...he's such a massive disappointment to me. I predicted preseason that he would have 80+ points this year, I'd be surprised if he hits 45 (barring a major turnaround with the new coaching). I'm not usually one to blame the coach when a team isn't performing, but in this case the Pens really need a fire lit under them and Olcyk seems like he'd rather be everyone's buddy than their coach. Therien might be just what they need, but if they don't turn it around PDQ the next thing you'll start seeing is trades left and right. Mario is spending too much $$$ on that team to have them suck the way they do. I just hope Buffalo is smart enough to stay away once the trades start being offered...

They use to call him Eddie "No check" here.I always liked him, a blue collar/slow moving player. I think he got out the most out of the talent he had when he played. He'll bounce back.

I find you all to be unfunny and annoying.

Ok, I think I'm going to venture out of the house for the first time in a few days. A round of golf in the sun will do me some good.

Just seems odd that a guy with no coaching experience got a job in the NHL to begin with...you would think he'd start in the minors like everyone else.

I don't think you can blame the Penguins terrible season so far on him but you can't fire the team...you fire the coach. He is a great guy and everyone liking him is what helped him last almost until Christmas. I'm excited to see what Therrien can do as he only just suffered his first non OT loss down @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He's supposed to be bringing a tougher attitude that I hope the Big Pens embrace and can play some hockey thats exciting at least. The last couple weeks have just been horrible. Take away their lone W vs. Colorado and they have scored just 4 goals in 5 games this month. They made the Blues look amazing last game and that was just the last straw.

LoL...had to look that one up. I don't have time to reach my closest one of those but when I hit 909 I'll have to make that same statement. Stupid snow/ice/slush thing is going on outside and we get to leave work early. Good thing I put some studded tires on the '87 Chevy Chevette I got to drive today. Ya I said Chevette...not corvette.That's...Posted ImageNot...Posted Image

i watched two of their games over the past week before the firing. they were a disgrace--sloppy, out of position defensively, running all over the ice, making bad passes, running into each other, etc. if i coached that team i would be screaming at them constantly. it's not a lack of talent; it's the lack of focus and a commitment to a system--ANY system--that caused them to lose. they looked like a bunch of guys who signed up as individuals and got thrown together in a beer league who never played together, in the NHL, in DECEMBER. it's funny; i was watching the det/pitt game with my girlfriend, who knows very little about hockey, and i said to her, "if i was the pens' GM, i would have fired eddie olcyk by now." she was like, "who?" then he was fired a few days later...

i guess crosby is NOT the savior  doesn't it seem like what the pens did this past offseason, was eerily similar to what the rangers were doing the past 7 offseasons?....and we all know how great those teams were  now...the secret to building a winning team is to get all the czech players you can get. look at the rangers! :D LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!

The one thing Pittsburgh really needs is some solid defensive defenceman. That and maybe Malkin.
