You can tell a thread is an old one if the first letter of each word in the title isn't capitalized.
Moe: Yeah?
Homer: See, I got this friend named... Joey Jo Jo... Junior... Shabadoo.
Moe: That's the worst name I ever heard.

But then you have to actually read the post instead of just looking at the title.
I'm trying to save you time!
Moe: Yeah?

Moe: That's the worst name I ever heard.

I'm trying to save you time!
But aren't some old threads worthy of reading again?
In fact the only way your posts make any sense is if you assume that all old posts are not as sophisticated as today's younger fresh posts.
Well I beg to differ.
First the old posts have a nostalgic flair to them that adds about 4 basis points to their value.
Second old threads have an innocence that gives them another 2-5 basis points. I mean who among us doesn't like to see a thread about the folding aces before the flop when we all now know that there are a few cases where this is mathmatically wrong, but long term EV plus to our tournament life if and only if we have a +20 skill level rating on sharkpolls.net?
Third new threads have a cynicism undertone that leaves you wondering why you spend so much time online when the girls offline seem to be so much more abundant. A solid 3-7 basis point drop if you ask me in real life my opinion.
and lastly unless you have rated and scored every thread/post on here than I think you are taking poetic license to degrade threads that I bet you haven't even read yet. How does that make your opinion abut the oldness of a thread and it's value in internetese levels of value-ness any more ...valueable than anyone elses?
So until you figure out the correct levels of scoring all threads, put this algorithm to work on all the threads on FCP, and then show your results in a snappy brackets style pie chart, I think maybe you should just stop trying to tell us what to do.

Certainly.
Well I beg to differ.
That's because you just don't get it. You're assuming that I'm trying to steer people away from older threads. That's not the case at all. What I'm offering is a way to get readers into the right mind set before embarking on the thread journey. I'm giving people context.
I think 4 points might be a little high. It's only nostalgic to those that were here when it happened. My scoring system takes into consideration everyone's perception of the post (except stupid people). So maybe you get a bump because of the nostalgia factor and maybe a bump for offering a window to the past for the newer posters, but it's not an automatic bump. You still have to consider the inherent worth of the post itself.
What you call innocence, some call shame and embarrassment. So 2-5 points might be too low.
But girls online are more likely to talk to you. I'm not going to give you a point drop just because something is new. That doesn't make any sense. It must be scored according to merit.
Again, this all comes from you starting with the wrong assumption.
I don't even know what a brackets style pie chart is.
And please don't ask me to start scoring everything. I've got my hands full just with off-topic.
Moe: Yeah?
Homer: See, I got this friend named... Joey Jo Jo... Junior... Shabadoo.
Moe: That's the worst name I ever heard.

Indubitably
I apologize, I was unaware you were elected the tour guide de jour for the interweb. I guess voting for Algore in 2008 gave you an inside track on this prestigious position.
First..cutting out 2/5ths of the readersship of fcp just to make your scoring system easier to chart is
Third..inherent worth of the post???? Where did these posts get their inheritance? From a gestation box in the closet? No, they could not be inheritant to value on their own, this value had to come from an outside source. To pretend that they gained their value on their own is circular reasoning that I won't stand for.
And what you call sense, some call not sense.
Ha: when 30-40% of the 'girls' you talk to are vbnautalis
And you ending with the wrong conclusions
So much for 'official' scorerer
You have 'scored' 3/4ths of my last posts, while dictating like Mussolini on ciprofloaxin what I did wrong in assuming I knew what I was talking about with regards to scoring, and then admit you don't even know the basic form of inteweb scoring reference data value system charting..AND then you have the nerve to coyly* say: "Oh but please don't ask me to score everything", well mister that is exactly what I am not going to not ask you!
* Should it turn out that this is not a word, than I would like someone to submit this word to the web internet dictionary thing and give me most of the credit, because it is a really good word.

Nevermind. It is a word;
I am glad it is a word, even though I probably will not get the credit I deserve for it's resurgance.
