princeof56k 0
How often do yall fold after the river card comes out if you have a feeling you are beat?I've had the following situations come up recently. I usually have top pair or a pocket pair higher than whats on the board and by 4th street I'm heads up with someone else. My opponent was passive on the flop (check/call) and I've been aggressive(bet/raise). Now on 4th street, my opponent raises me or on the river he bets (after he has been checking/calling the whole way). By the way the cards have come out and how he has bet I have a feeling I'm beat. Even though I think I'm beat, I still go ahead and check/call on the river just in case I have the best hand. Am I just throwing away money or am I doing the right thing by going to the showdown? The situations I've mentioned are in a limit holdem game with about 5 people out of 10 seeing the flop.
NormanHaupt 0
I do this too, and I think its part of the cause for my 30% showdown win
Wilderness 0
It depends on the size of the bet and the size of the pot, but if its limit like you said, then its usually still the right move to call, since you will only have to win a few times out of these situations to make it profitable. Jubba 0
If its limit usually the pot odds justify calling with almost anytwo cards. It also depends on the player that you are playing against. Not just in this hand but in the whole game. Is it online? Is it someone would would be aggressive with just top-pair? mid-pair? or do they play nothing worse than 2-pair? If I think I'm beat I usually fold, but if there is a chance. Usually if I have top pair with a decent kicker I'll call a small bet on the river. It probably is a value bet from them and they want me to call, but sometimes you just have to know what they have. Besides it might cost you a little bit of money but now you have more information on how that player will play that hand in the future. Once in a small limit game, 1/2 I called with bottom pair to see what the guy had and it turns out he was betting with bottom pair too and I had him out kicked.
UglyJimStudly 0
How often do yall fold after the river card comes out if you have a feeling you are beat?In limit, I often call if I'm 90% certain I'm beat. Assuming I played well and had good odds to play to the showdown, the pot is almost certainly more than 10x a big bet, so I make enough money on the 10% of times I'm wrong to pay for the 90% of times I'm right and still show a tidy profit. No limit is of course a completely different animal, you very likely don't have the odds to make a low-percentage call unless your opponent makes a small bet for whatever reason.
