NL ring game( 8 or 9 seated). 1/2 blindsHAND = QQRaiser 2 away from the gun, I re raise from middle, he flat calls. I have position and got the last raise pre flop. About $20 in the pot pre flop just me and him.FLOP J :D 10 :D 2 :) he bets out with $5 i re raise to $12. He moves all in for $140. Your read from watching the guy and the way he plays is AK, maybe even suited. Action on you. You call or fold?? Let me know how what you would have done.

Fold. You're an idiot if you make this call.
I've never played poker.

I would put him on A J...or two spades with the information given, but what do I know??I wouldn't go as far as saying "you're an idiot" if you call, but I would probably fold.

First, I don't know where you guys learned to bet and raise, but that's besides the point.Your read from watching the guy and the way he plays is AK, maybe even suited. If he has AK of spades, which right now is the hand which should least worry you, he has 17 outs, 16 if you have the QS, which you didn't say. So the least of your problems is a 17 out-er.First of all, he obviously has A-A or K-K, even J-J or 10-10, all these hands dominate you. Then consider hands a loose player might have smooth called with pre-flop 10J, 8-9 spades or Q-K spades (if you dont have QS)There, four definite hands that are beating you plus a handful of looser hands that are also dominating you. i think everyone here is right, he's asking you to committ over 100 dollars in to a pot you have around 30 in. get out.

Not quite obvious. I think my single biggest ability in NL that contributes to my winning is watching peoples betting patterns and what cards they turn over. I did in fact ditch the hand. And after calling time for 20 secs(wasn't really considering it but its something I do as I find that more often people will show there cards) I folded and he turned over AK :D . So I just wanted to know what you guys would have done knowing the cards. I knew I was in front but let it go anyway mainly due to the fact he had outs. Although I was still favourtie.

I think "He" played the hand too agressively. If I were him, I would have just called your $12 raise. On the other hand, you were right to ditch the hand. With that raise, I would have assumed he had pocket jacks. Usually in that situation, I think thats what you would be looking at. Larry

No, AKs is a flop favorite, even if you're "in the lead". He has an amazing amount of draws, and you have no way to shut him out of the pot. AKs is a monster on that flop.Actual case9 spades2 queens6 overcards:17 outs: HE is a 61-49 favorite vs. top pair or an overpair that didn't have him dominated.16 outs to beat KK (lose 3 overcards, put 2 Q's back in the deck), 17 to beat QQ or Jx, 14 vs AJ and KJ, 13 vs. JT, TT, JJ. all are close to even money at worst or in his favor with 2 to come before you count the redraws. He has what appears to be 13 outs to beat 2 pair or a set. Considering the 4 outs that 2 pair has to a boat, he's a 43-57 dog to 2 pair. Given the 7 then 10 outs to a boat that a set has, he's a 37-63 dog. You need to be further ahead than you were to eliminate overcard outs and have redraws to beat AKs there. He had a big hand. Somewhat overplayed because not much will give him further action without a redraw to beat him that kills his overcard outs, unless he put someone on KK/QQ and figured they'd marry the overpair.

Just ran it thru the odds calculator. AK of spades vs QsQh ---56.1 to 43.9AK of spades vs QhQd---54.9 to 45.1AK with only one spade. You are 69%.If you read him for AK, why ask us? Just call.If you called, and he has TT,JJ or some other hand that dominated you, better go back to school and learn how to read.
