If you are as annoying in real life as you are here he'll probably give you the 15K to just leave the family and go away! Hey, speaking of that...FCP'ers would probably donate to get you to leave too!!!!Thoughts??
Hey if you guys chip in to get me into the main event I'll gladly go away.

Yeah...but I plan on marketing it as "an investment opportunity." I don't plan on paying him back, but that's only because he's a millionaire and $15k is pocket change.
how much of a millionare is he?? One million isn't really THAT much these days...but if he was worth 50 million or something like that, then I'd say you can pull it off.

I have a really rich uncle and at our family Xmas I'm considering asking him to stake me for the WSOP main event as well as a couple other smaller events. Flame away. But what I really want to know is that if such a deal is reached, what would be an appropriate split up of any money earned? 50/50? 25/75?
if he's that rich just ask him to give you the 9M top prize. replay victory in your head.
I like that idea better!

It would help if UB could ever get a ****ing qualifier off the ground. I sat in a 10+1 30 seat qualifier today for two hours and only one person signed up.

I've been considering doing this for $1000/$2000 NLHE and LHE events. My uncle seems reluctant. GL though.

If you think you are that good, then have him stake you 10K and go to work on the $500 buy-in NL tables. You probably have a better chance of beating the $500 buyin NL tables for good money than you do hitting it big in the WSOP.
This is stupid, how are supposed to get on tv and get famous like Chris Moneymaker or Dutch Boyd by going this route? Jeez you dont understand at all.

Why not go to the gay and lesbian community for sponsorship. You could play wearing a rainbow of colours set off with a huge pink triangle!! To top it off, you could do a little dance after every hand holding birthday sparklers and blowing into a whistle!

Wow...where'd you get the time machine. I'd really like to go back to the 1950s too.

So when you pitch this "I'll be about a 7000:1 dog, but its still a good idea" idea. How do you think you can sell that to someone who doesn't understand the game and understands money.I mean I'm sure he didn't make his money by investing in companies that had almost zero chance of making a profit.

Use his uncle's stake to "pay for operating expenses" and never actually pay him back?Blatantly rip off his "crew's" idea and attempt to use it for only his own financial gain?C'mon, the guy has options here.

I would ask him to stake you in a $2000 NL event, and if you cash in that, I would ask him to stake you in the main event.50/50 - 10K min.

Honestly, if you are that good, just win one of the seats in the $33 tourneys run on Stars. If you think you can cash in the ME field, then you'll have no problem taking one of these down. Hell, what about the $175 double shootouts, you only have to beat 16 ppl.If you have a problem coming up with a few hundred dollars to win easy qualifiers, then I suggest that the WSOP is not for you. There is no such thing as thrifty in Vegas. You'll need at least a few grand to even attempt to enjoy yourself out there even if you are playing in the ME.

Hey can your rich uncle stake me? Seriously that all depends on how much he knows about deals in poker, or how much your wlling to give up. I think 80/20 with the 80 going to the financeer is the norm. Since he is family I would say that is fair. If you are as immoral as most of us poker players youcould try to get 50/50 and not feel too bad:) Good luck brotha
