RikyRicardo 0
I got busted in a ub Tourny...I had 55, late, short stacked... only 10X the big blindI got 4 limpers... so I raised all in... everyone folded to the cut off... he called with A7s.It was a pretty tight game at this point, should I have waited for a flop, raised 1/2 my stack, or did I play this correct
Metro 0
I kinda have to laugh at him calling with that... What hands does he have beat that you might push all in with... At best, he's only 50% chance to beat 22-66. Any 88-AA or AK-AJ, he's way behind on. Half your stack is only 5xBB, you're going to get at least 1 caller there. The move here is fold it or push it. I suppose you might call and try to hit a set on the flop, but any wasted money with that short of a stack is far from the right direction. I might consider folding considering the chances of scaring out all 4 limpers is low, and at best, you're looking at 50% against any one of them. How close to the money were you? Alcatraz 0
The goal of an all in push at that point in the tournament is to win the blinds. You wait for reasonable cards to make your move so that if you're called you still have a decent shot at winning. With 4 limpers in front of you, the chances of picking up the blinds were rather small. If one person calls you, you're almost certainly in a coin flip situation. If 2 or more call, you're a big underdog.10x the big blind is short stacked, but it's not desperately short stacked yet. I fold that hand and wait for a better opportunity. In general, I don't favor an all in move at that point in the tournament unless I'm a) holding a monster and hoping to get called or B) the first to enter the pot.
JaysonWeber 0
How far out of the money were you? Thats the biggest thing... if you're still 5-10 away from bubble and you're playing to win, you did the right then... You need to win 3-4 or these coinflips to make a run at top 5 seats... I think you played it correctly....

KDawgCometh 2
I really like your play actually. There was a lot of weakness shown, no one raised in front of you and you definetly had enough where someone should have a hand to call you(unfortunetly they didn't and still won). You used solid judgement to pick up some bets and the blinds with a good pushing hand in your situation. Better luck next time

What stake were you playing? 10, 20, 30s?UB does play tighter than other sites, so in order to have success without just relying on solid starting hands (which is fine if you are catching cards early on), I'd advise to open up your game a little more early on in the tourny, preferablly in the 20-40 area at latest.I use the first two rounds to try and determine what kinda game the majority of the table is playing and pick up pots here and there in the mid levels. If it really is a tight game, as you said you were in, go ahead and open some pots with sub-par hands and try to take it on the flop.Right now I'm actually trying to be "good" and play within my bankroll so I'm multi tabling 10+1 tournies, or just one 20, and I really think this is the best way to get a good chip stack going into the higher blinds. This strategy has been working really well for me at UB and I wouldn't recommend it at a place like PP where you start with so little chips with quick blinds and looser (in general) opponents. UBs structure and players really can give you an advantage if you can figure out when and how to mix it up. I wouldn't advise otherwise.Just some food for thought, good luck if you try.- Jordan
Jordan 1
Oops, I guess you didn't clarify if it was a SnG or MTT. I just assumed it was a SnG by how you wrote the post?It was a SnG, right?- Jordan
