wpt episode, goes down to hoyt, dn, and gus

I was just watching this again the other day and this was beutifal poker, they all had alot to work with in the range or 40-75 big blinds, it seems the world poker tour has gotten away from any sort of playable structure.anyhow this was gus at his best, i dont know how he gets away with this stuff!Has anyone ever tried playing every hand like gus?

the WPT has a very playable structure but it takes days to get through so eventually people are playing too slow to keep up.

One thing to keep in mind when watching Gus is that the show is edited to show big hands, or interestingly played hands (the WPT is nowhere near as bad as the WSOP is at that though). Although Gus plays a lot of hands, and the WPT editors are not going to waste time showing all of the hands that Gus lays down. He's successful because he does a good job of keeping his opponents guessing, because he will pick up a monster just as often as anybody else, and a lot of players will not give him credit for it. I see plenty of people try to emulate his style, but a lot of players are not smart enough to pull it off (you need to know when to change things up...and not play complete trash).Anyways, I like Gus and all, but I don't think his heads-up play against Corkins was all that great. If it wasn't for a huge suckout, then Hoyt would have won it (and Gus wouldn't appear to be nearly as good for his play). Just my opinion though.

Gus' play during his first two apperances on WPT Season 1 impressed me more. He navigated very well at a tough table with 5 pros in the kick-off episode (Hennigan, Juanda, Deeb, Bigler, Scotty Nguyen).

Yes, in a freeroll. It didn't work so well. I raised every street with anything and busted out in ten minutes.
