Your opponent probably has a Jack and thinks at worst you guys are splitting the pot. Go ahead and bust your nut all over the river. He's going to call whatever you throw in there.

His river bet is pretty big but i have the nuts so how much more should i raise him?

We raise him all in!!!a) we have the stone cold nuts so if you're looking for reasons for "all in," value is optimized.b) we have a situation where EVERY second place hand HAS to value call, or make a brilliant laydown (which ain't crappenin').c) If he'd fold for an all in, he doesn't have a jack and wouldn't call a raise anyway.This is a numbers play. Play this hand 1000 times. How often do you get called? A lot. How much value are you missing by making a "sensible" raise vs. all in? Almost zero.WILDLY profitable situation here. Maximize it.

Yeah, I agree with the rest of the thread. This is pretty much an automatic all-in. There's a great chance that your opponent had a jack, and if he does, he almost has to call an all-in. I'd say that at those limits, a jack fold less than 10% of the time to an all-in. I wouldn't even be that shocked if you got a call from a 7.

Reminds me of a hand I played at a cardroom with some regulars that I know very well...1/3 NL, I was in SB, and honestly didn't play the hand very well, and 3-way I made kind of a weak call on a 9872 rainbow board with QT.River came the MIRACLE offsuit jack.I check, reasonably solid player to my left bets, and then Alan on the button raises.Alan is in his 50's, nicest guy you'll ever meet, almost grandfatherly over us goofy college kids, very tight/very passive, doesn't like open-raising with AK in late position because he thinks it's rude to steal blinds, routinely folds AK to raises, and won't re-raise preflop with QQ ever, and only sometimes with KK.So I check/raise pot on the river.Tough guy folds.I say to myself oh no, Alan, why does it have to be YOU with the 10.Alan CALLS... and flips up... QT. Tough dude folded the naked 10. Me and Alan each had about 150 behind it in about a 200 dollar pot.Alan said he put me on QT and just wanted to show it down. Re-raising never crossed his mind, neither did the fact that he is incapable of losing this hand.My first thought: I really think he would have folded if I moved in.My next thought: From my observations of how often he plays and how often he loses, Alan HAS GOT TO BE somewhere between -$5,000 and -$10,000 on the year for this card game... and yet he still plays twice a week, and he's still nice when he loses.Makes you think about a lot of things in this game.
