I think the best way to put it is that I must not have been thinking clearly. When I look at it it just looks stupid. But, I'll give it a shot.On the flop I was thinking that the villain would bet no matter what so a check/raise might be a good way to represent strength. I couldn't check/raise/fold so I felt like I had to call the 3-bet. I bet out on the turn, trying to represent the Q and act like I still had a strong hand. Then of course the river was a straight up bluff. All in all, I think I played the hand like a donkey, but once again I have no idea what the villain may have had, if I recall correctly he had a 50% VP$IP over like 10 hands or something, but that's pretty much meaningless.

Without reads, I'd err to the side of caution. If this were my BB I'd probably play close to how you did, though I would probably try to justify giving up earlier, like maybe check/folding the turn. In the SB I think I just call, maybe peel one on the flop, then check/fold the turn. That may be too weak/tight against a button raise though.

1) Haha, stop it. I play plenty of hands like this. I LOVE the way you play this flop. I check-raise tons of flops, and you have Iceman's seal of approval for your flop play. You WERE thinking, and thinking well2) Turn sucks. Betting out once you're 3-bet w/ no draw... it's gay. Supergay. Unless you've got a pretty good read on your opponent, the bet-out is weak. He 3-bet you on the flop. He likes his hand. 3) Usually, I'd say: IF you bet the turn, which I don't like, I'd rather you bet the river than dump it.... Plenty of people will disagree with me, and they may be right. But if you're gonna fire at the turn, and if your opponent is going to call behind, betting doesn't suck.This river sucks, though. If he 3-bet for a free card with a nude 5, he made his hand. So... This specific river is probably one of the few I'd suggest check/dumping. Flops good, but the turn needs to be folded. Check-raising the flop with nothing only works if we don't get three betted back x.x

Eh? Looks 8 handed to me from the rest of the post too, what was the max at this table? Anyway, about 3 betting PF, depends on your button. I've noticed a lot of people in 10 max or 9 max are not trying to steal from late anymore, they just open with their normal opening hands. If that's the case with this button, then I think a call is better. If he does try to steal here with marginal hands, it's a 3 bet.

Just by the way your opponent played it, it sure looks like you're up against a naked 5 here. I like the hand overal but you're probly best off check folding once that awful river hits.

Funny!I would like to have a read on the guy in this situation, does he raise when its folded to him on the button a lot? This will help you choose between folding and 3 betting, I think if I 3bet preflop, I bet out on the flop and fold to a raise. I very well may be way off here also.
