Ok, I made it to the 5th step in pp step tourney. After an 11 dollar buy in I went 4 for 4 on tourneys and am playing in the 1000 buy in two table final. Top four Places pay 9k 5k 3.5k and2.5k.This will be my biggest buy in tourney so far and I invite my bro to watch.I had been playin great poker for about a week and thought I had a great chance to place or even win.Well when I logged in I was alot more nervous than I anticipated and it definatly effected my play. I suppect my brother watching also effected my play and I will no longer tell him in the future when I am in a big one.So the table is playin real tight and about ten minutes into the tourney I am dealt KK in late position with the blinds 10-20.There is one limper and I raise to 85 and the blinds fold and the limper calls. The flop is 9d6d4c, limper checks I bet 125, limper calls.Jh hits the turn and limper ckecks I fire 175 at the 450 pot and the limper moves all-in.after using all my time plus bank time I fold. I never recoverd and lost later after never accumulating chips. This is my annalysis tell me what you think. It was early in a tourney and everyone was playin supper tight. After my initial bet of 85 into a 50 chip pot in order to call he had to have a ligit hand. Which makes me think he had a pocket pair and flopped a set.I think the only hand he could have and I possibly beat was QQ I figure he could have possibly had AJ but QQ was more likely. I feel his other possible hands were AA JJ 99 66 or 44 I cant see him calling the flop with any other hand than possibly TT and his all in bet would have been very risky after the J hit the turn. The only thing that makes me question my decisions is that if you had flopped a set why wouldnt he have protected it against the possible flush draw after the flop.......I guess that settles it he had JJ.(now I feel better)I would be interested in your opinions(p.s. I didnt ever see his hole cards I am just hoping he had JJ)
what would you have done?

good job on making it that far. He could have had a jack. The reason he only called on the flop is he might be afraid you have a better hand. The other reason is the chances of you being on a flush draw are not that big and also the chances of you hitting it on the turn are even lower. So when the turn comes a jack if he has a jack then he's almost positive he's got the best hand and he's got more money out of you so its ok to go all in. I would have called anyways but I'm not saying that what you did was a bad decision. I just wouldn't trust him. He could have pocket tens just as well. Also how many chips did you have, how many left?I'm thinking about playing in the step tournanment too. Do you recommend it?

It was ten minutes into the tourney so 20 players were still in. It left me with 600 in chips I thought I could rebuild but never cought any cards. The steps are alright It takes a while though if your bankroll allows it start at step 3 cost 250 and top 6 advance I think there is pretty good value there.

Thinkin about it some more,I dont think he could have had JJ or QQ because he would have raised pre-flop, He must have has 99 66 or44..............or AJ

I would have bet more at the flop, pot sized bet at least. You didnt make the proper bet in my opinion. You should have gotten him out or all in right there. If your beat your beat, nothing you can do about that. Now on the turn he scares you off the pot. Your bet on the turn shows you are scared. You didnt bet this properly in my opinion either. You are asking someone to come over the top of you. Bet it like you mean it, get your money in with the best hand.... cant play NL scared.

well I am trying to learn so this is whay I am posting,But let say I did bet the pot post flop (200) and he called that, then he checked the turn to me. Had I bet then I would have probably been pot committed.I admit I probably played a little scared, which I agree is a bad way to play NL.This was my first 1000 buy in tourney, I will be more prepared next time.I honestly do not think he was making a move on me with rags though.I dont think he could have had a hand worse than AJ.
