PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (8 handed) UTG+1 ($1.67)MP1 ($1.28)MP2 ($2.02)CO ($5.38)Button ($1.05)Hero ($4.98)BB ($5)UTG ($4.78)Preflop: Hero is SB with K:club:, A:spade:. 1 fold, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, CO folds, Button folds, Hero folds.Final Pot: $5.33Raised in an attempt to thin the field and give myself a good shot at this pot. Big blind pushes. This smells of coin flip at best to me with barely pot odds to call. Is it correct or incorrect to lay this down?Second hand at the table so no read.Note: I am not a good NL player. I rely on pure aggression to win.

Contradiction.-- You don't have right pot odds to call here, but I'd go ahead and do so anyway. I may be more induced to calling since this is such a small limit and the only two hands that have us in big trouble are KK AA and we can simply rebuy.meh.- Jordan

What do you mean? He's getting 1.15 to 1. If he believes it's a coin flip then he's getting just the right odds.I'd call as well. But $5 is nothing to me so...

Well, if you move this up to a 1/2 game and he raises to $500, it's obviously an easy fold. As for your level, I really don't know. I guess if your opponent's been playing like it's a real poker game, then go ahead and let it go, and otherwise go ahead and call, and celebrate when he turns over 7-2.........until the deuce comes on the river.
