I will be in NY in December, and i have a few questions about the Turning Stone.What games go they offer?What is the lowest, and highest limits? And if you have been there what is the dynamic of the limit hold'em games?Thanks in advance.

They offer mostly LHE and NLHE. They offer stud 1-5 occasionally. Lowest limit offer is 1-3, highest is a consistent 20-40 game. Limit is a chaser game, if you want to play a legit game, you almost have to go NL. Any other questions, PM me.

i beleive...limit from 1-3 to 20-40 -- last time i was there I played 5-10 and it was pretty weak. (about what you would find at a 1-2 table online)No limit- $100 - $500 buy tables. and sometimes higher. These are very weak gamesAlso stud and stud high lo 1-5 and 2-10 i think

Lowest... 1-3 Limit $50 buyin... 1-2 NL $100 buyinTons of tables.. Almost impossible to get Omaha or Stud tables though. I went two days ago and asked about Stud H/L, they said its an early game, so maybe Omaha is the same thing.. I didn't get there till like Midnight. I played till about 9AM, the tables were very thin at like 6AM, but still had many tables of holdem till then.1-3 Limit, $100 and $200 NL Holdem are definatley the majority of the tables.. There are is a huge game that's always in the corner, but mostly those levels.

You will have a lot of trouble finding a limit game that isn't full of psychos at Turning Stone. Even the 20-40 game usually has 4-5 players at the river calling on runner runner draws. The guys in that game are mostly regulars and have no regards for money. The no limit games are pretty poor at 100max(1-2 blinds), so if you want a legit game you almost have to play at 300max(2-5) or 500max(5-5). They also offer a 300min buy-in 10-20 blinds no limit game. Al Krux is the most notable player in that game, and it usually only runs one table on friday nights.

Yeah, let's not talk about Krux. Bad memories.And I would say that the 15-30 game is a very legit limit game. 20-40 is nuts, agreed (only sat it once). I have honestly found that I have made more money playing 100 max than 200, due to the fact that the competition at 200 max is just automatically tougher.

Whatever you do DONT play the 1-3, its awfull. I droped $60 there playing only premium hands from position. Haha I had Aces cracked by J5 after capping preflop, the turn and by the river I knew I was beat. I know its part of the game, but its more of a lottery than a game of skill. Iif you can catch cards its great, I got quad Queens and capped it to the river (made on the turn) and ended up with 2 callers showing down. If your a NL player you should probably play $100 - $300 max of whatever suits your skill/bankroll. When I was there they had a bunch of toureys going on, check those out.

DO NOT, AND I REPEAT DO NOT PLAY THE TOURNEYS. The caps there was needed because the tourneys are horrible. They are usually 2500 in starting chips with 25/25 blinds and 15 minute levels. It is such a miserable structure and by the first break it becomes an all-in fest. The best I ever did was 8th in the $100 buy-in when 6 monied. I came into the final table in 3rd in chips...got blinded down without seeing a hand, and ended up all-in for barely 3 times the blind and got ousted by a monster. Just stay in the cash games.

I've never made it there, I'd intended to go a couple weeks back. The 2/5 game is really a 300 max buy in? Yuck. Do the 2/5 and 5/5 play noticeably different? If so, sheeerly due to initial stack sizes or in caliber of player as well?

Love the Turning Stone. Decent poker room. Decent dealers. Decent crowds, especially on weekends, which are usually jammed.In Stud, they offer $1-$3 and $1-$5. They occassionally offer Omaha, at whatever limit the players wanting to play choose. They always spread NLHE at $100 max, $200 max, $300 max, and $300 min.In Limit HE they always spread $1-$3, $3-$6, $5-$10, $10-$20, $15-$30, $20-$40, and $30-$60, depending on interest. I did see a $50-$100 game once, but that was some time ago.I only play LHE when I go there and the games are stunningly soft. I've seen the $20-$40 game on Saturday afternoon play like .50-$1 at Party Poker. Of course, there's the good player here and there, but if LHE is your game, you won't be disappointed playing at the Stone.Good luck.
