This occurred in a pokerstars $10 27 man SNG.I thought this was an interesting hand. Maybe because I know very little about NL tourneys. There are about 14 players left, and I'm 2nd in chips with about t5100.Villian in this hand is 3rd in chips wiht t4900. I'm trying to write a term paper, so I haven't really been paying attention. Ergo, no reads.Blinds 100/200All fold to SB who completes.I check in the BB with 94o.Flop (t400): KQ7rCheck, check.Turn (t400): 4 (completing the rainbow)sb checks, I bet t200, sb raises to t600, I call.River (t1600): 9sb bets 1000, I call.Thoughts?

Your turn play with bottom pair is much too optimistic, imo. I would have check/folded, or bet the 20o and folded to the reraise.Once you hit the two pair on the river I think you have to call. He is most likely on a pair of Qs, maybe Ks or 7s. Two pair or a set are just too unlikely to fold.

First of all, I'm probably betting the flop to try to steal. After that, I think I call the turn just to see if he was trying to steal. I definitely raise the river, as I don't think he has me beat at this point.

Thanks for the replies guys.I think one of the things I struggle with (especially in NL), is that I always think the other guy is trying to outplay me.When I check the flop and bet the turn, I felt like this guy could be screwing around because he doesn't think that 4 could have helped me.I called the raise to see how he would react on the river. If he bet, I was done with the hand UI.That 1000 bet looked to me like 1 of 2 things. Either it's a value bet with a hand that is stronger than mine, or it's a last ditch attempt to get me to go away. I really never felt like raising would do much good.

I've been known to bet literally every flop in position heads up from the big blind, when checked to from SB.It works pretty well for me, just be sure to fold at any sign of aggression.
Always bet like you've got a pair.

what kind of raise from the BB works? i assume after a few steals you need a hand or the SB is going to limp/reraise with a good one?

Yeah, I agree with TJ. Either I check pf and bet if he checks on the flop. Sometimes I raise pf to try to take it down right there. If he calls, I basically force him to hit the flop. If he checks on the flop, I make another bet to try to take it down. If he limp/reraises, then I take my 2-3BB loss and move on to the next hand.Take it from the experience I have. If you want to play a superaggressive style like I often advocate, you have to learn when to fold. Even I often have to learn this. As for the situation of the OP, I probably raise either pf, or bet the flop after I check.
