question about playing a low

Recommended Posts

I have A 2 4 8 in my hand, with a board of 8 7 4 Q 2.Could I not play my A2 as a low with the 4 7 8 on the board? I know the deuce paired on the board, but I thought it wouldn't matter since I could use the A2 in my hand and the 4 7 8 of the board, and not use the 2 on the board that would be a pair?

i believe you have what's known as a live ace. yes you have a low though not a very good one.
That's exactly what it is, live ace.Its just basicall the low on board with your ace is the easy way to look at it. All 4 low cards and your ace, so you have 8 low. But yeah, op you're right, you're playing the 8 7 4 on board with A2 in hand for that low.
