rookie hold'em player in (d)edmonton, canada

Recommended Posts

I have never played poker in a card room and could use some advice and/or information. I have played online at Ultimatebet occasionally for a couple of years so I have most of the basics down but it is really boring (who wants to spend all of their time in front of a computer). I have been thinking about playing in a b&m for a while but don't want to look like an idiot during my first session.First of all, general questions regarding card room play:- How much is the average rake or half hour payoff usually going to be?- Do low limit cash games have an ante, if so how much is it?- How much of a buy in should I invest for a couple hours of play?- Is there any other head's up things that some seasoned veterans can throw my way to make this less intimidating?Secondly, if anyone has played in Edmonton, Canada:- There are a handfull of poker rooms around here, Which is your preference and why?- Does anyone know what the low limit blinds are in these card rooms? If anyone can help me out I would appreciate the comments. Thanks

i played in edmonton basically all you can find is 3-6 with killthe blinds are 1-3 the no limit game at the casino on argyll(i forget what its called) is horribly tightbassically low limit holdem in edmonton is bingo with anywhere from 5 to 10 players seeing the flop with no matter how many raises it is extremely hard to bluff cause you always get called by someone you would be better off to save up some money and find a 15-30 game cause the rake punishes the 3-6 game they take 5 percent up to a max of 5 dollers
