First of all hello, this is my first post here. I'll get right to the point. You played a hand two years ago I think(don't worry, complete hand history will be provided) and I have a few questions regarding why you didn't play it differently. IMO, you would have gotten the lead in the hand(he probably would not have bet the turn) as well as making a flush draw more expensive. Also, if he'd had AA/KK he probably either would have 3bet the flop OR led out or check-raised on the turn in which case you would have known for sure you were beat while saving a small bet (hope the math's right in there)Turn 6 Chris bets. Honestly I think you answered your own question. You say DN says on the DVD commentary he is afraid of AA,KK,or QQ. Thats probably why he didnt raise.

Maybe, he didn't know for sure that Chris wouldn't three-bet without QQ or better. If he thought there was a chance that he'd three-bet with something like TT, 99, or AK, and he was committed to the hand anyway, than this was the safest way to play it without jeopardizing his whole tournament life against the chip leader. Also, by not showing too much strength, when he is against something like K-9, he can end up making an extra BB and a half in the long run. Really, I think just calling on this flop worked a lot better than raising would have.To put it another way, if you're in a full-table game, and there are multiple opponents here, sure you have to raise to narrow the field because there are too many people that could outdraw you. However, in a six-handed game where two people see the flop, sometimes you're better off just calling down to the river, and hoping that the other player misses their 2 to 6 outer if you're ahead.
