greatwhite 0
Good luck finding a really good book. Omaha Hold'em Poker by Ciaffone is probablly the best out there, but I think it's still out of print. Had to get mine from the Gambler's Book Shop.
econ_tim 0
Super System 2This is the best stuff out there. Sadly, the PLO chapter just covers some very basic stuff, but the O8 chapter is good. You can find some more information on both games on internet sites like playwinningpoker and Greg's O8 site. Jdr999 0
Super System 2Not even 100 pages, too bad it's the best out there. Don't bother with T.J's Omaha book. Mainly stories and basic beginner info.

As I said, good for people just starting out playing Omaha, and wanting to learn the basics.

David_Nicoson 1
Farha on Omaha is crap. I keep trying to finish it, but then I read something yet another stupid sentence and I put it down in disgust.I've haven't read TJ's Omaha book, but if it's anything like his Hold'em "book" (transcript, really), I'd skip that, too.Slotbloom knows what he's talking about, but he's focused on playing short-stacked. (If you're interested in play short, you should definitely read this one. If you're not, don't.)Try Super System II or Pot-Limit & No-Limit Poker.
Naked_Cowboy 0
Farha on Omaha I just "finished". I read the limit hi and PLO chapters completely; I literally couldn't finish O8.It is by far the worst poker book I've ever read, both in terms of writing and usefullness. Bulleted short list of major beefs.- it's suppossed to be by sammy ... right? why does it mid thought switch from referring to sammy in the first and third person? it's like the ghost writer and sammy switch off writing paragraph to paragraph with no indication who is "speaking" where. - it claims to be both expert strategy and aimed at beginners, and this is just on the cover. ... what?- the book often moves in and out of concepts and explanations without setup. first you're reading about a beginner's concept, then suddenly you're playing 25-50 PLO and in the middle of a hand with very little information.- the book seems to contradict itself as it explains both a "good" way to handle a situation, and then the way sammy might. these differing opinions, compounded by the switching between first and third person, make it very difficult to follow which course of action the book is actually advocating sometimes.- without going into much detail (as i never plan on picking up the book again), some of the concepts and strategies discussed simply do not translate to medium stakes games, especially the "sammy" way of doing things.brandon adams (who has played extensive PLO with sammy) has said that sammy's strength in PLO is his ability to read hands (something the book doesn't really touch on, other than occasionally saying "then he obviously has the nuts, fold") and his ability to put intense and constant pressure on opponents in the short-handed games he plays in due to his complete lack of regard for any sum of money. those things don't exactly translate to book form, much less this book. dinho_style 0
the chapter on omaha hi in the SS2 is pretty straight forward without showing the more subtle parts of the game.... i heard sammy's book is very bad. it has many spelling mistakes and makes no sense in some places. it also talks about limit omaha hi which very unpopular. but i dont know what good omaha books are there. i dont play PLO much. TRB05 1
Check out this book:Pot Limit Omaha Poker: The Big Play StrategyThere is a lengthy thread about it on 2+2 here:2+2 ThreadI have read most of the PLO sections and I think I will need to re-read it at least a couple more times to digest it all (but I'm fairly new to PLO). It focuses on hand structure a lot and which structures have the potential to flop monster draws that are likely to win an opponents stack rather than small pots. There is an entire chapter focused on straight draws and the strengths of different ones, and also a lengthy "hand quiz" chapter. I haven't finished it yet but so far I think it is one of the best poker books I've ever read.
