In America the common last name is like Smith or you could prolly think of a very common one as well but, I just wanted to drop some knowledge on the last name Nguyen.Vietnamese people is shrouded in legends and myths, the history of the Nguyen dynastic family is relatively well kept. Vietnam today has 80 million people, sixty ethno-linguistic groups land area is 329,566 sq km with 3290 km of coastline. There are 769 surnames in Vietnam but Nguyen is by far the biggest group. The Nguyen name took majority place in the population due to past practice of adopting the ruler’s surname by newly arrived migrants to gain acceptance and grace during the Nguyen dynasty spanning close to four centuries. Other mass conversion of names came from Cham ethnic. They did not have surnames and often cited either Nguyen or Pham (a Vietnamese translation for Po meaning Lord in Cham language) as their surnames when came under Vietnamese rule. Both late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong of communist North Vietnam and President Nguyen Van Thieu of South Vietnam came from Cham ethnic ancestry. There ale other historical reasons for the prevalence of the Nguyen name. During the Tran Dynasty in the 11th to 13th centuries, many of the families of the prior dynasty courtesans - the Lys - changed their name to Nguyen to avoid persecution. Well that's the base of it

everything is untrue. we nguyen people are just geneticly blessed, therefore we pop out babies by the dozens...don't even talk about our poker talents.....i learned how to deal myself 4 aces at the age of 6 and invented my own black jack system at the age of 7.....by the age of 9 i'm hoping to disguise myself and go win a WSOP braclet. it's good to be me baby.

Thanks for the explanation... it's especially interesting reading for me as I'm off to Vietnam next week for 3 weeks. Wonder if there's any poker rooms in Hanoi or HCMC? one thing that would be unsettling is the lack of English at the table.. heck everyone could be colluding in Vietnamese to fleece the round-eye.

Well when your last name is pronounced "win", it's kinda hard to be bad at poker. By the way... when will Men Nguyen another bracelet?Men always Nguyen!

yukonpoker.comWow that should be fun and interesting at the same time.I know that Scotty supports about 30 people back in vietnam, not to mention the people he has to support in america like his family, etc.Men the master dose that same, thing. Pretty much almost every vietnamese mom or elder living in america does.
