I think I lost this pot solely because I actually answered his question. I was dominating the table up to this point and the table was starting to break down.Of course, the next tables I played at I lost, but that's a story for another day. Here's the hand:Would not typing a response really have changed anything?*********** # 68 **************PokerStars Game #1188188408: Hold'em Limit ($0.05/$0.10) - 2005/02/08 - 19:34:41 (ET)Table 'Lesya' Seat #9 is the buttonSeat 2: Highcard9 ($0.43 in chips) Seat 3: gagray1 ($3.50 in chips) Seat 8: Mr Pink 3113 ($4.04 in chips) Seat 9: Vade ($3.48 in chips) Highcard9: posts small blind $0.02gagray1: posts big blind $0.05WayoR: sits out *** HOLE CARDS ***Dealt to Vade [6c 6s]Mr Pink 3113: folds Vade: calls $0.05pgamez21 leaves the tableHighcard9: folds gagray1: checks *** FLOP *** [8h Ac 4s]WayoR leaves the tablegagray1: checks Vade: bets $0.05gagray1: calls $0.05*** TURN *** [8h Ac 4s] [6h]gagray1: checks Vade: bets $0.10gagray1 said, "you got the A?"Vade said, "n"gagray1: calls $0.10*** RIVER *** [8h Ac 4s 6h] [3d]gagray1: bets $0.10Vade: raises $0.10 to $0.20gagray1: raises $0.10 to $0.30Vade: raises $0.10 to $0.40Betting is cappedgagray1: calls $0.10*** SHOW DOWN ***Vade: shows [6c 6s] (three of a kind, Sixes)gagray1: shows [2h 5c] (a straight, Deuce to Six)gagray1 collected $1.22 from potVade said, "n river"*** SUMMARY ***Total pot $1.22 | Rake $0 Board [8h Ac 4s 6h 3d]Seat 2: Highcard9 (small blind) folded before FlopSeat 3: gagray1 (big blind) showed [2h 5c] and won ($1.22) with a straight, Deuce to SixSeat 8: Mr Pink 3113 folded before Flop (didn't bet)Seat 9: Vade (button) showed [6c 6s] and lost with three of a kind, Sixes

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

yea, there really wasn't a reason to tell him that.

Heheheheh....no offense man but I don't think its a real good idea to tell your opponenet what cards you don't have. I mean he probably would have called anyway since it was a micro limit game but still not a very good move.

The guy called a bet on the flop and turn with a gutshot he wasn't going anywhere
. I'm not a big fan of answering questions like that, but with this guy he had his mind made up about chasing the gutshot and it didn't matter what you said.

"Would not typing a response really have changed anything?"No.

Honestly, i doubt it mattered, he was on a draw on every street, it's doubtful that he would have gave it up no matter what you said you had. He was calling with a 2 5 os with no possible flush. You probably could have told him you had that set and he would have called

Thanks all.I'm getting used to this new microlimit thing. I usually play NL tourneys, but I figure this is good practice for future casino play. All sorts of odd plays are made at this stage.

I don't even know why he asked that question... I mean, it's not like he could even beat a bluff at that point. It's almost like he was asking you so if he hit his draw he could get you to cap with him... which...Man.... I'm so confused. He's just a fool. Hell, you wanted him to callIce

Are you kidding? It's a .05/.10 game. People will call with one over card hoping to hit. Answering that question had no bearing on the outcome. The only reason that happened is.......it was a .05/.10 game..05/.10 games are not particularly good practice for casinos, considering casinos don't (usually) have tables lower than $2/$4, which isn't that much better than microlimit, but it's still different. Would you rather call a gutshot straight draw the whole way through for a total of $12 or a big 30 cents?

BMWGuy is right that this might not have happened outside of a micro-limit table (where the real money consequence is much more severe). On the other hand, this guy he was playing against strikes me as just enough of the right kind of moron that he might have called that gutshot if they were playing at a 10/20 table (assuming such a chucklehead could have accumulated the cash to play at a midlimit game). In my relatively short time playing poker (both on-line and live), I have found that stupid knows no borders, bankrolls, genders, or nationalities. And to think, all this mind-expending knowledge from playing a silly game...
