No chance. None. Zero. Unless Sidney Crosby gets caught in a threesome with Hugh Grant and a transvestite, it's his to lose. The three nominees for the Calder will be Crosby, Ovechkin, and Dion Phaneuf.

Crosby, Ovechkin and Phaneuf will be the finalists and it's Crosby's to lose. Sidney Crosby is to the NHL what Wayne Gretzky was to the...er....NHL.

I don't see Phaneuf as a finalist over Vanek, personally, but I agree that it's Crosby's award to lose.

LOL, point taken. Actually, I would throw Lundqvist into the mix over Phaneuf *and* Vanek, kid's just impressive. If he wins the starting job and the Rangers can make a run at the playoffs, he could wrestle the award away from Sid the Kid.

as much as i hate to say it, i agree with everyone who said it'scrosby's to lose. still, though, have you seen ovechkin? did you see him last night?kid is unbelievable. sorry, hometeam bias. seriously though, this is the only thing caps' fans have had to be excited about in a long time.

The OP is a silly goose.
When I go to a fast food restaurant, and my order comes to $6.28, I like to give the cashier $18.71. They look at me and say 'What's this?' and I say 'I'm all in'. They usually fold.

do they only look at total points? or will they take into account that crosby has lemieux, recchi, palffy (not sure exactly who's on his line)...but i mean if ovechkin was playing with lemieux, he'd probably have more points

ovechkin gets the award right now.Crosby has been setting up beautiful plays and scoring nice goals. Honestly though, Ovechkin is carrying his team. He makes something out of nothing all the time. Don't get me wrong, I love the good Canadian boy, and I know that is not all he is. If it was any other year, Crosby no doubt. But man, Ovechkin. All I can say is WOW! 13-3-3
Best Regards,

GoHabs!

I've gotta say, Renney is a helluva coach. The guys are buying in, and he's got to get credit for a lot of the early success of the Rangers. Typical gesture, last night he starts Toronto kid Kevin Weekes against the Leafs. Weekes responded with a great game... now, if he can only keep Jagr and his Czech posse from imploding. Didn't bode well last night watching Straka stand on the Leaf blue line with the play still in the Rangers end, screaming for a pass....

Ovechkin wins it over Crosby and Phaneuf.. Crosby is a better talent than Ovechkin, and will be a much better player in the long run, but Ovechkin's past experience is giving him the edge right now.. Phaneuf plays in the west so he would have to score 500 points to win the thing..
