Been here a while, but have yet to post a strat question. I play in a $20 buyin unlimited rebuy NLHE home game every week. I think I am one of maybe two or three out of fifteen people who has read a book about poker cover to cover. Question: Eight handed ring game, I am the big blind. Blinds $1/$2. One late position limper, small blind calls, I look down at 7 8 and check. The flop comes 2 9:club: 10 Small blind bets $6, I raise to $12, and late position limper calls and comes over the top for $48 or so more. Small blind counts his chips, and calls. He still has another $40 or so left. At this point, I have more than $150 in chips, so covering the small blind is not an issue. I put him on a draw since he didn't go all in on top of the late position all in. So i figure I have eight outs for the straight, and another 3 (maybe) for the back door flush. My thinking was that at least someone had to have the jack or the six, or suited in clubs. I thought that too many of my outs were taken, given the action before my turn. I'm also in bad shape to trips or two pair if I can't catch.I went into the tank, and ended up folding.Is this the right move?This is where I started to second guess myself. The two all ins both flipped over red 9 2, for two pair.Turn 6 River 3 So I would have caught my straight. Good fold, or bad fold?

Bad fold.It only costs you like 36 and the pots at like 115 right now. You've also got the $40 implied if you hit your draw on the turn.

This is a tough one, even though you are getting the odds on the hand. It's very hard to call and all in (despite how much money it is) with a caller behind the initial raiser.Your 78s isn't that far behind two pair in this spot. It's pretty much even. I actually think that 78s is a fav.I think that unless you had a read that you were beat, I re-raise the 40 on top of the all in call. You have nothing to loose as far as odds go.

Bd flush is worth the same as 1.5 outs.And yeah, I think you should have called here with implied odds.

horrible min raise.min raises in nl are gross. especially with no hand. maybe if you told me you were playing weak/tight opponents it would be ok (no), but still, avoid min raises.you folded when given decent odds, but you should have (if you were raising) committed yourself to the hand by raising at least 3x his lead bet. this way you aren't folding a draw you want to see to the river, and much better than min raising cause you are applying more pressure.otherwise, smooth call is much better than min raising.- Jordan

I'm never posting here again. You all suck. swSeriously though, I guess it was a weak min raise (dammit!) but if I thought they both had red 9 2, I would have called immediatly. Oh well. I ended up taking down about 85% of the cash on the table. The deck was pretty hot. Thanks guys. Jordan, do you remember Brownbeard, a la "Advice for Daniel"?
