Okay, this was in a homegame, so i'll convert myself, i already got some help from Zimmer on this hand, and i thank him, but i'd like to see what everyone thinks.4- HandedBlinds 100-200I've got the button with about 11,000 chipsPreflop:CO folds, I raise to 500 total, SB calls, BB folds.Flop: Q 8 7SB checks, I checkTurn: 7SB Checks, I checkRiver: 3SB bets 1100, I think for a long while and call. The reason I made the river call is because, the SB is a pretty decent player, and is capable of making a steal bet of that size on the river. He has done the same thing in the past before, so i really thought he didnt have anything, what do you guys think?Zimmer's advice was to bet the flop, and if i did not bet the flop, i should have bet the turn, which now that i look back at the hand it made alot more sense than checking, I'm just looking to see what everyone says.

And the flop bet is better than waiting for the turn. You need to keep the lead or you leave yourself open for a steal on the turn too. Had the turn not paired up, not significantly improving either hand's chances, SB most likely would have led out. Arguably he should have led out even with the board pairing, representing a small pair that has improved somewhat because theres only one more coming and an overcard didnt show.
