trying to play bb better

looks fine, the turn card is great and the river is not too bad, unless he has something like 77 or a very unlikely A6 he is probably just calling you with some crap like J9

Good.Check/call the river against a slightly more aggro player.

Why not just lead the flop? If he calls, lead the turn too. Might c/c the river depending on the action, player, and board by then.As an aside, if someone limps on my BB with position on me, I lead the flop about 75% of the time even with nothing. I pick up lots of pots this way because my opponents generally have to hit in order to call.Jeff

I c/r'd "to take control" knowing he almost always bets here (just about any player). It looks strong, imo, and gives me more fold equity.At least that was my thinking.

If he's an auto-better when checked to here, I don't mind the c/r. Without that though, there aren't many safe turns for your hand here so I generally prefer leading to give him a chance to fold right off the bat.Jeff

You can lead the flop. All that's really important is that you mix it up in these situations.BTW, you should always lead if you don't think your opponent will bet.

You can lead the flop. All that's really important is that you mix it up in these situations.BTW, you should always lead if you don't think your opponent will bet.
