I have a question for all you experienced players.I generally finish in about the top six % in freeroll ( NL HE) tourneys I play, with 900 or more entrants. I play about 20% to 25% of hands. I really want to do better but I'm kind of stuck around the 6% mark. I generally end up with a small or short stack and have to push and hope to get lucky. What could I do differently? I see the other players raising with KJ etc. Should I loosen up and play more of these type of hands? I think I may be playing to "by the book" and am to predictable. I feel like if I play suited connectors and so on the other players won't notice b/c its a freeroll and they're probably novices. (I play freerolls b/c I'm 17 and my mother would chop my head off if I played with money) I'm in a rut, and I will tell you anything else you need to know to help me out  Thanks

Well, The thing is that when the amount of people left gets lower, you need to play looser, generally. Check out this thread for more advice...http://www.fullconta...opic.php?t=3275

I would avoid analysing your play in freerolls...honestly people just play to wrecklessly to take your results that serious. free rolls are nice to learn the game and some very BASIC strategy, but if you want to get serious then i would suggest real money (microlimit) and advance your game when your age and parents permit...if you really want to beat free rolls for the joy of it just play tight and wait to you get premium hands or just test out some different ideas you got because it is for fun

Find a place that you can play for play money, but if you collect enough of it you can change it in for real cash. I'm not affiliated with the site, but one that helped me is pokerpages.com. You can play in freerolls for bonus points then in turn play ring/sngs with them. Once you collect 1000 or more you can exchange them in for $$$ to play on Bugsysclub (1000 = $10). It gives you the feel for money games without any monetary risk. Again, i'm no shill for the site, just figured it might help.

High,if you're getting down to 6% out of 900 players, the blinds got to be really high. (Are there Antes on the site you play at?)Do you steal enough when given the opportuniy? Do you take a stand against overly aggressive blind stealers?I suggest you read up everything on "Position" that you can get your fingers on. This will help you to confidently steal enough blinds (and defend yours) to get to the next level.gl404
