Daniel's blog indicates there are many prop bets associated with draw games such as 2-7 lowball. To declare a winning prop in your hand you must obviously prove it to your fellow players. This would involve needing to show your hand to other players thus revealing cards/information to other players who should not be privy to such information. Information on what cards are dead and which are live is pretty important in draw games and showing your hand during the actual play of the hand is clearly not possible. How do you get around this? Does everyone keep their cards in front of them until the end of the hand even if they have passed so that they can show at the conclusion of the hand to claim any props? Even if you keep your hand aside because you are going to claim a props win still tips off your opponents to your potential holding. I suppose this is all bonus info to observant players. Also in lowball games, if you get dealt a props winning hand (pat), but one which you wish to continue playing and would involve breaking the pat hand, how do you proceed? Say for example you are dealt a hand that wins a prop bet pat in the BB and you get to have a free draw in an unraised pot, what do you do? It would be foolish not to at least try to break and draw to a better low hand, but then you can't prove what your original hand was... Also, with the use of hole cards or draw hands in props bets does the constant revealing of hands slow the game down for the non props players? Being the gambling monkey that i am, i'd be the first in on the action, but i can appreciate that it would be a rather frustrating nuissance to certain players who are not involved in the props bets. If anyone can enlighten me as to how this all works from a practical point of view i would very much appreciate it. If i can work out the mechanics of this it would be a great addition to my regular game. Thanks in advance... The Gambling Monkey

i think you need to let the hand go to showdown so the props can be collected. So sometimes if you will lose more to stay in than you will collect on props, its just didnt work out for you.

I don't think that's the case, since it would be hugely -ev in a game like triple draw. I thought about how they would do it myself, but I'm not sure I came up with an answer. In games like 5 card draw jacks or better, you had to have a pair of jacks or better to open the pot. If you had a pair of aces, for instance, that you split to draw to something like a straight or a flush, you had to show the ace as you drew, to prove that you had the hand that you needed to open. I'm guessing that the props are collected in a similar manner. You expose only the cards that you need to expose in order to collect your prop. That is only my guess, someone who has the real answer should correct me .
