You have to raise.You are only ever making it correct for gutshots to call post flop, every other draw will be getting good odds regardless. Don't let this concern you.Capping the flop is perfect.Betting the turn is compulsary.Check behind on the river. Link to post Share on other sites

They'll probably come along for the ride anyway, and while capping may be slightly for value, we are still probably going to have to hit a set to win this.Capping is undersirable because it cuts down on our implied odds in too ways:1) We put in an extra bet, so that means we need to make up more postflop.2) Capping will undoubtedly slow down the action on the later streets (unless of course, we're badly beaten).Also, capping makes it very difficult to protect our hand later if we have an overpair on the flop and river. A bit of a mistake in the preflop action... I had to manually convert this hand and I guess a bit of a different hand got in there... There was no 3-bet (so capping is not possible here).I will edit the main post to reflect that.So the river bet is OK? I think I'm bet/calling here... Link to post Share on other sites

TJ_Eckleburg 0 Posted November 2, 2005 Share Posted November 2, 2005 I am very susceptible to river check/raises, and for my stakes I don't think that's a particularly bad thing.I operate under the assumption that if I'm being check/called, I'm way ahead, especially with a set, and a bet has a ton of value because I WILL get called... if only I'm not up against a flush.I hesitate for about .7 seconds on the river and wonder if he hit, then say "fuck you and your river check/raise if you hit a flush. You're just calling with a weak 2nd place hand and I win if you call this." And then I bet. Link to post Share on other sites
