5Reads: No reads unfortunately Villain just sat downHollywood Poker No-Limit Hold'em $1.00 BB (6 handed) Relevant Stack Sizes Hero (BB); $189Villain (SB); $68Preflop: Hero is dealt 4 :club: 5 :) 3 folds, Button calls $1, SB calls $1, BB checksFlop: ($3) 6 :) 7 :) 8 :) SB bets $1, Hero bets $4, Button folds, SB calls $3SB in an unraised pot, he could have virtually anything. I am scared of the slow played made flush but would put him on a high :D if I had to make a guess at this pointTurn: ($11) 10 :D SB checks, Hero....??Better than a :D but not much better, Villain could have a higher straight with a lone 9 now. I think SB would have bet with the made straight however because he would also be scared of a :) falling on the river.Once I get some feedback on play up until the turn will post my turn play and river card for further discussion

You said it yourself - the 10 :D isn't much different than a :club:. At this point you've got the idiot end of a straight w/ a possible flush on board and a 4-card straight that beats yours. I don't think you can put another penny in this pot. Wait for a better spot.Ben

I decided to go with my original read that Villain was holding a high :club: (thinking he would have bet out with his made straight being afraid of another :D on the river)Turn: ($11) 10 :D SB checks, Hero bets $7, SB calls $7Definately in check, fold mode nowRiver: ($25) J :D SB checks, Hero checksInteretsing results, what does everyone put Villain on now given Turn and River action/cards??

The short answer is you're better off check/folding the flop. We have the dumb end of a straight on a highly coordinated board, we need brick-brick to *maybe* be good on the river, we won't get paid off by worse hands (because worse hands are more scared than we are), and if any one spade, 9 or 5 comes off OR the board pairs, we can't call a big bet.Yes we flopped a straight, but the biggest difference between this straight and other flopped straights is we have an almost 0% chance of winning a big pot (and by big pot I mean an all-in/call where we end up winning). The long answer involves highly specific reads we probably can't have, and the slightly more complex concept of "waiting for the turn to raise.""Waiting for the turn to raise" is not to be confused with slowplaying.
