I recomend Phil Gordan's new book. It's written in an easy to read format and is small enough to be carried around so you can read it on the train to work etc. It's slightly different from most poker books on the market and the different perspective is refreshing.

I was planning on purchasing it also. I became a fan Gordon's after the WSOP where he had a podcast. Seems like pretty down to earth guy. His DVD was well made and you can see that alot of money was invested. The material in the DVD was basic stuff that I already knew, which was disappointing. The presentation and the set was top notch. It makes Lederer's DVD look so amateur and cheap. Looking forward to DN's DVD. Has he mentioned a launch date yet?

I disagree. Bought it online, and thought it was completely useless.I wish I had checked it out in the bookstore first. What did you get from it?

I thought that his analyis of the so called BOW online player was interesting. Also, he mentions betting strategy / amounts post-flop more than some books which tend to place more emphasis on pre-flop starting hand requirements but are then light on post flop play.

For those who haven't read the book, Phil mentions the strategy of 'the best NLHE player in the world' whose identity he keeps hidden. The strategy involves over-betting the flop with both monster hands / big draws. Phil says that this player has made more money online than anyone in high limit games. Would this be 'salmon' Erik Sagstrom?

I read my signed copy. It was good. I like how he "mentioned" spirit rock in the online section.

I have to say I liked the book. It's certainly not the best first book to learn no limit hold 'em. What it does well, though, is boils down concepts that people rarely discuss in print. I like how it has an actual discussion of blind stealing in tournaments instead of just saying "sometimes you have to raise with less than great holdings....that is all."Also, of course it's Prahlad Friedman, and I do like how he...I suppose kind of concealed his identity. That discussion is very intriguing. Now I have to go re-read that part.Over all though, I definitely think it's worth a read. It takes little enough time to get through that it's not a huge time commitment or anything.

Like this book so far. Still reading.Just got it on Friday and I started reading it and I have to say it improved my game already.I like this book becuase I have read the Little Red Book (Golf) and Phil Gordon has taken the same approach on his writting of Little Green Book as Harvey Penick did in his Little Red Book. The mind is the game of poker as in golf and thinking on what you are going to do before you do it is very important. But Phil explains how to approach the game with the cards your dealt.Still reading so I hope it continues with all these tips and incites through the book.Look forward to finishing. And reading again.Very good read. Easy

I just recently purchased this book and am really enjoying it. It's one of the best NL books out there.

I'm just starting to read it and have found it to be a good read. I may get the CD of it to listen to in the car for long trips.

I've read this book through a couple of times now and it is currently my favourite.I've only been playing for about 11 months so far but I have found the format of this book fantastic. Quick read and sections are broken down into quick to the point information which can referred back to quickly with a detailed table of contents. I also like the fact that he writes what he does and what he is thinking in situations. He makes more money at poker than I do so I like to know what he is thinking so I can get an idea of what other players are thinking or holding(second leveling thinking).I can choose to agree and to disagree in what he thinks and move to his next topic.I have found the page on playing short stacked to be the best info I have been given so far although it is really straightforward. Has helped me a lot in tourneys. From reading a few other poker books (Hellmuth, Cloutier/McEvoy, Skalansky..) I believe this book contains the truest version of how a particular player thinks and plays rather than telling you how you should play and then seeing the players not using their own advice. Of course I know the cards don't matter but I believe that some of the other pros with poker books out leave their best secrets secret(and I guess they probably should).Rambling....... but anyway if you are a beginner to break even player, get the book.

I finished it this morning and found it to have been a very good read. This book is good for the tournament player who is looking to improve his results if he/she is not getting the results they desire. I definately rank it as one of my top 5 poker books I've read.

I think it may be the best book on no limit cash games out there. Anyone try Spirit Rocks strategy?

I bought the audio book and dropped it onto my IPod for my daily walks. It is about 3 hours long and is a good condersed version of the book. $ 12.95 on ITunes.
