For giggles, I entered a PLO sit and go today. PLO is my worst game by far; the one I have the least experience with, so please, be gentle. I suck at PLO. I come to learn. three handed I don't mind this play. Of course if he has QQ you are toast, but the odds of that are obviously small. I love the checkraise on the flop, but his call either says trip queens or the AKT9 (or similar variation) with the diamond draw. I go broke here(middle set with OESD) when it is 3 handed, I play the hand the same way you did.

Yeah, you did nothing wrong, he hit a two outer. That's poker.

i would probably raise pre-flop. you often have an edge, plus you have position.otherwise, it's fine.

I actually do not like the check-raise flop. Second set with a low end of the str8 draw and no flush draw, nor any protectors against the flush draw (no diamond in your hand). I lead out in this situation with a pot size bet. Too much connectivity on the flop with a suited JQ.If a king hits the turn, what do you do? Specially if K of diamonds? Playing a middle set against a three card str8 flush board out of position.i think you learn a ton more leading out on the flop here and seeing if he lets go, raises or calls.Even if you lead and he comes over the top, what do you do? I think I lay it down and pick a better spot. He may be a donk but:1. you have only a weak str8 re-draw2. your str8 draw is essentially three outs to the nuts... not much3. you have only second set on a coordinated board.Granted I do not have the benefit of the reads you have developed on this guy the entire time while playing with him. I wouldn't agree with your take however that this play means you "suck at PLO".

Why is his str8 draw so bad? If a K hits , the guy has to have AT to beat him. It's not like he can have an outside str8 draw on the high end. His set is likely the best hand on the flop. I honestly don't see what's wrong with getting the most money you can get in on the flop. You can also price out some draws.

On this hand I would have raised before the flop. Also, I think I would have let out after the flop with a substantial bet and tried to take it down there with second set. I don't think that there would have been too much value in seeing this hand go to another street, so I would have tried to win it on the flop.On the whole, I don't think your play was terrible, but I would have been more aggressive.
