akishore 0
3/6 ringone ep limper, lag/gambler to my immediate right raises in mp, i decide to cold-call with A 7 and it folds to the limper who calls.(7.5 sb) 8 6 4 ep checks, mp checks, i check.(3.5 bb) K ep checks, mp checks, i bet, ...obviously folding to a checkraise. if i'm called, i'll c/f the river ui.i think i might have misplayed preflop, the flop and the turn. i'm not certain about any of those.a) fold, cold-call or three-bet preflop in my spot? merits for all three, don't know which one is best here (i feel that cold-call is best given the loose/passive table conditions). this seems like a routine and simple preflop decision and i'm a little ashamed of myself that i was unsure in the moment.B) check behind on the flop or bet? if i bet, am i calling a possible mp checkraise? yeah, i'll have odds to chase. what is the purpose of a bet, though? do i really have any fold equity? maybe. well, maybe i do against ep, and i might have the best hand versus mp. but this flop is so terrible for bluffing at.c) take a stab on the turn? i also represent the king. this might have been okay, but i'm not sure.aseem
DrZebra 0
with the button, you have to bet that flop.call a checkraise and fold if the red king comes and he leads.you'll probably take it down on the flop.
akishore 0
with the button, you have to bet that flop.as opposed to taking a free card with my weak draw?you'll probably take it down on the flop.i heavily doubt it. this is pacific, 3/6, on one helluva coordinated flop, and there is a lag in the hand.aseem
DrZebra 0
i heavily doubt it. this is pacific, 3/6, on one helluva coordinated flop, and there is a lag in the hand.then how can you possibly bet the turn?????????it's flop or never
hotbacon 0
i heavily doubt it. this is pacific' date=' 3/6, on one helluva coordinated flop, and there is a lag in the hand.then how can you possibly bet the turn?????????it's flop or neveron the turn overcards will no longer call, and he's been checked to twice. so it's not a "flop or never" situation... Actuary 3
pf and flop look good.I check behind on turn (edit: MP passivity now is confusing me..probably into submissiveness)I c/f river UI.ps. time SteveStud7 to come in here and inquire about all your posts..given that you are very strong player and have good reason for most all you do!I should be posting 10x the # of hands relative to you! akishore 0
i heavily doubt it. this is pacific, 3/6, on one helluva coordinated flop, and there is a lag in the hand.then how can you possibly bet the turn?????????it's flop or nevernot really. it's a really common habit for a lot of your average low limit opponents to regularly and habitually peel one card off the flop for one bet, but tighten up significantly on the turn since the money is doubled.plus, i was checked to twice. that's much weaker than a single check. also, since there is only card to come, people are less inclined to call.etc.but you are right that betting the flop increases my fold equity on the turn.aseem

akishore 0
I can't say I know anything about adjusting my play to cater to low-stakes morons.yeah, i realize you have a bunch more experience at the mid limits. you play/played mostly 10/20 - 20/40 at foxwoods, right?it's always an issue on these forums, because people have such different backgrounds. everyone has to be careful about taking advice which might not be optimal for their own situations.aseem
DrZebra 0
Don't forget my mortal enemy: 1/2 NL (plays like play money on party.)I haven't been there since they opened the 2/4 NL(or 2/5 now i hear) which would be more up my alley.
pokerplayer24 0
I think I play it the same. A bet on the flop really won't accomplish anything as overs, a gutshot or basically any 2 will be calling 1 bet.
DrZebra 0
but you are right that betting the flop increases my fold equity on the turn.
akishore 0
the thing is, jim, that while betting the flop does increase my fold equity, there is also a lot of suspicion in the lag's flop check.one thought that immediately ran through my mind was that i might get checkraised. when that happens, i'm putting in a good amount of money unprofitably, when i could have taken a free card and hoped to hit my gutshot or ace for free.it's a tough thing to balance my chances of taking down this pot versus drawing out as cheaply as i can if i'm behind and lag is setting up a checkraise.aseem
