Everyone's heard it..."Against tight players, play loose...against loose players, play tight."It's wrong.Against tight players, you make more loose bets but less loose calls and raises.Against loose players, you make less loose bets and more loose calls and raises. Think about it. If you're a solid player and you know to play tight against loose players, then why would you play loose against a tight player!? It's all ****ed up!
common misconception

Sure I agree but when people (me) say that general comment we don't mean for it to be taken literally. You can even get more specific but really that depends on the table you're playing with. Ultimately you have to know how to play the individual.

people who don't know better take it as a rule.

It's a misconception that everyone should follow this rule. But, experienced players who are capable of playing at different speeds should follow this. If you're a solid tight player who is incapable of playing looser at tight tables, then table selection is your biggest issue. Why would you ever play at a tight table? This rule really means that at a tight table, you need to raise with more marginal hands than you normally would preflop, and bluff more frequently. Just because you are playing looser than usual does not mean you should call more frequently. If anything call less when you are playing this way, as people will check to you when they are weak at all.

I believe, online you should play tight all the time. Loose table blah blah tight table blah blah. When i play online. I usually watch the table for 5 minutes before sitting down so i have a feel. I like to find a table with one or two bad players and the rest tight players. I dont change my game at all online. There is no need. There is 1000 tables to choose from, find your table you like, then sit. However,i play mostly live games, and they tend to be with the same people. Thats when you got to change your game. Then you become predictable. Monday night i was in a wild game, but as the night got closer to the end, people got tight wanting to leave with some money. I was down 10 bucks. I started raising every time i was big blind with whatever or when i had a good hand. I ended the night with 50 bucks profit. I forced people to play with me and loose their money to me. lol

its a better idea in tournaments when you can steal juicy blinds at will in a tight game... it is also easier to outplay a rock after the flop.if everyone else is loose, then you must pick better spots, as they are hard to read and able to bust you at any time.
