DB10-2 0
i'm sure the GM of the cheap thieves will take interest in this. i can't see how it's good for antropov's numbers, though he would be, one would think, a first liner in DC:"There has been some speculation that the Maple Leafs may be willing to trade Nik Antropov to the Capitals as part of a package for defenseman Brendan Witt.Washington has also requested that the Leafs include a young defenseman possibly(Jay Harrison or Brendan Bell) in a bigger deal. Although nothing seems imminent, we will keep our eye on this situation. By the way, it will be a game time decision as to whether Antropov will play against the Hurricanes tonight. He has been nursing a number of assorted minor injuries. Oct. 20 - 9:10 am etSource: Toronto Star"

DanielNegreanu 141
I read that same thing, and frankly it just might help spark him, especially if he were to play with Ovechkin. I have a Washington forward that is awesome, but unfortunately he is stuck in Russia and will not be able to play in the NHL this year. Alexander Semin has been having contract issues with his Russian team and also may have military obligations. It's a shame, because while he is on my farm I'd planned on using him this year. From my understanding "military obligations" really means "he's not bribing enough". One of my political science focuses is Russian Politics and the only reason someone of his stature in society joins their military (Which, by the way, is a scary, corrupt, and criminal organization) is because he refuses to pay any bribes or he's angered the wrong people. I'd give it a 1% chance he ends up in the military. His contract issues may well be a problem however.

gruven 530
I would love to have Witt on my team.I would take Witt over Antropov in a heartbeat. And I don't think you could pry Witt loose with Antropov as the bait..
MapleLeafpoker 1,462
I would take Witt over Antropov in a heartbeat. And I don't think you could pry Witt loose with Antropov as the bait..really? I like Witt a lot, but I thought what Antropov was showing this year, plus his low salary, would make him more attractive to teams. I thought I'd take some abuse for even insinuating Witt was any good, I didn't realize anyone else watched Islander games. My only beef with Antro is that he is still injury prone in my mind, and maybe too slow.Like I said, Witt can be a great shutdown D, and I think very underrated.

Jason Smith vs Ryan Malone? You need one to make a team successful. The other? Lots of them around...
